i dont know about anyone else here but i'm pretty sure stats = ppg, rebs, etc.
if you had mentioned his offensive rating originally, then you would have an arguement.
and no offense, but when the hell does anyone look at someone's ratings?
are you Hollinger?

Im an accountant.

And stats equal far more than PPG and RPG and ASG

seriously?
then you may want to edit your posts about his Minutes "doubling".
he got 12 more minutes per game from year 1 and 2. he went from 22 minutes to 34.

Well, Lamarcus hasn't improved any statistically from year 1 to 2 so I cant see that increasing with the great Oden playing beside him.

.

of course not...
even though he doubled his ppg from 9 to 18.... his PER didnt change, so that means there was no improvement whatsoever.
in fact, PER is the ONLY stat worth anything!

Sorry I'll try to be more clear. He hasn't become Garnett..

INSIDER those minutes per game are averages you know his minutes increased by 48% over the course of the year from 13xx up to 26xx.

Yes Sorry I wasn't clear on his PPG and RPG going up because I though any idiot who could read would be able to figure out that 18 is bigger than 9.

When I talk statistics its effectiveness based on usages. I have referenced this in other posts with likes as well.

So in the future I will remember this and be more specific about my posts. At least its making for an active thread.

The only thing that could stop Portland at this point is if Bayless is a gonna get mine scoring PG/cancer. In SL he's been putting up crazy points but his assist and turnover numbers are totally brutal. They don't need another scorer in the backcourt with Roy already there. I still think they'd have been better off keeping a proven winner and team guy like Rush, and then playing Jack until they could address the PG situation later through FA or something.

Point guard is probably OK with a scorer there cause Roy is good as a facilitator.

Quick point on the Aldridge thing even though it's been done to death already.

I'm a huge proponent of PER, usage and other advanced statistical metrics, so I appreciate you pulling those out because I didn't take the time to check.

Just a note though...you say his increased basic stats can be attributed to increased minutes and increased usage, which is fair.

But wouldn't you say his coach awarding him increased minutes and usage on an improving team is pretty good evidence that he improved significantly?

And for his efficiency not to drop when his usage and minutes increased also indicates improvement in my opinion.

Did they not give up Jack to get Rush?

And Bayless, from what i understand, has been playing off the ball in summer league. I have no idea why, but that would explain the high scoring and low assist totals.

Deal was Jack and Rush for Bayless, I believe.

Good points but just as much of him starting can be attributed to the fact that he is young and is better than Frye or McRoberts eaving Prz and Lafrentz to man the Center position.

His offensive and defensive efficiencys both dropped but his per went up by 1 point. still pretty good. Looking at the numbers he is a slighly better than average PF. his per ranks him 13th amungst all PF.

I just dont think he is going to become this feared player at his position. I think 18 ppg and 8 rpg is about a plateau.

Oden will be a top 5 C, Bayless has superstar written all over him and Aldridge is like Bosh.... i see a championship in that teams future.
