Blazers Blazers may look to move vets..Przybilla, Camby, Miller?

Quote:
The Blazers are contemplating trades in which they will deal some of their older players in an attempt to go young, according to sources.

Marcus Camby, Andre Miller and Joel Przybilla are candidates to be dealt.

Sources say discussions remain at an internal level for Portland and are contingent on being unable to turnaround their season.

I think they're like a game out of a playoff spot. Sure, because of injuries, things look bleak. But "contingent on being unable to turnaround their season" seems a tad melodramatic. Can't say I'd want any one of these cats though.

If we could get Camby without giving up too much I think it would solidify our C spot, let Bargs play some PF and provide consistent rebounding and defence. Plus he'd be coming back and that's a great storyline.

Yeah, Camby would be a beautiful fit. Exactly what we need. Center, tough, defense, rebounds and a veteran. A bit better than Chandler.

If we get rid of Camby or Miller, we'll be floating dead in the water. The Pryz has sparked better bench play, and the Blazers have responded by winning all 3 games since Joel came back.

All depends on the what the Blazers recieve in trade. I contemptuously dissapproved of Bayless getting traded for the Hornets draft pick. They were already a good team, and now that pick looks like it'll float near the bottom of the first round.

The fellas mentioned are helping our squad more then any rookie could next season. And the teams that struggled bad last year are still struggling pretty bad. Don't think anyone would give us a high first round pick for any Blazer not named Roy or Aldridge.

"Well maybe they'll try and trade to get a good player instead of a draft pick?"

If the Blazer higharchy trades Blazers for anything, trust me, it'll be to cheapen the payroll.

Younger? Not saying i want any of those players, but one more young player (hopefully a stud PG) and that should be our quota, at least if he's a high prospect. This is already one of the youngest teams in the league. IMO we can't get much younger at this point. Soon enough we'll have to go and get a vet or two that have been successful in the league to help these players take the next step.

Reggie, Peja and Jose need to go...hopefully some young prospects in return...let the young core (including a PG like you already stated) develop together
then add (older) pieces when the core is ready to take it to the next level

Well that's a given, two of those three are as good as gone already. And Jose is likely gone by next July if a good young PG can be had either through FA, Trade or the draft.

Agreed.

Camby would be an ideal fit IMO. His skillset compliments Bargs perfectly and he could mentor Davis, Amir and Alabi (who are all similarly built).

I just think that the one spot you need a vet is at Center. A player with a history of success at that position. Mainly because it's the hardest position to develop a player.

Kleiza was actually drafted by Portland. No issue with trading Kleiza but the Raptors don't need such old guys.

Damn that video is grainy... such a long time ago. Camby's best years were on the Knicks.

I guess the Blazers recently tried to wiggle Jamaal Crawford from Atlanta.
