Billy Hunter: Lockout 99% certain to happen

Quote:

Citing the league's extreme and inflexible position, union head Billy Hunter said Monday that a lockout is very likely.

"Iíd be 99 percent sure as of today that there will be a lockout," said Hunter. "Iíve said, 'Save your money, because in all probability thereís going to be a lockout.'"

Hunter said the gap between the league and players is wide and stated that the union will not move from its current position.

The next bargaining session has not been scheduled but the two sides have discussed meeting in December.

I don't really understand it but it seems they want to cut 800 million from players salaries, which I think is bullshit.

good
there are other leagues to watch and theres still college
if they want to reduce their popularity with a strike, then so be it

they might have a lockout next year :haha:

but its just the union head trying to create some heat so the fans can complain, which ultimately gets to the owners
making the owners/league the bad guys instead of them
nothing but a game of politics right now

lol Yeah, i forgot about that. I can't see both the NBA/NFL going on strike though. If so, then College basketball it is.

Funny thing is i lost interest in Hockey and now my cousin plays for the Minnesota Wild. :haha:

I am not entirely sure about all the discrepancies between the owners and the players union but I do not like the hard line the PA is taking saying they wont budge on their stance. IF the NBA does shut down I will certainly pay a lot more attention to the NCAA. I am usually a big fan of College B Ball but we usually only get a few games on the weekends out here in BC and thats about it........I hope channelsurfing is still around when that time comes.......its almost a refreshing change to watch college ball and watch guys that are mostly playing for a shot at another level

fancylad 11-23-2010 10:38 AM

i don't really care. NBA players are primadonas and have too much influence and say in shit. Knock them down a peg or two.

Superjudge 11-23-2010 11:51 AM

heh.

You need only watch the next series of already progressing MLSE moves to kow whats gonna happen. Think they are cutting salary for no reason.

These guys OWN CBA's

Well they stole their idea from dancing with the stars anyway. The future of all entertainment is bleak then.

Bring it on. More time for tennis.

I stopped watching hockey after the lockout and turned fully to basketball.

I wouldn't be surprised if I move to the NFL because I will likely check it out before I go back to hockey.

+1000000 I can't see myself ever going back to hockey. Basketball is pretty much it for me in the winter months, with the odd NFL game.
