FINALS Big Threes

They've become part of our league, part of our everyday basketball jargon, from Boston's Allen-Pierce-Garnett to Miami's Wade-LeBron-Bosh combo, they're a focal point of all winning franchises from before these teams and well into the past. Here's my rating of 'big threes' of the league right now:

Atlantic:

3 Boston: Rondo-Pierce-Garnett 3 (Ray gets marginally edged out here)
13 New Jersey: Williams-Humphries-Lopez (Until Okur proves otherwise)
8 Toronto: Calderon-DeRozan-Bargnani
5 New York: Anthony-Stoudemire-Chandler
10 Philadelphia: Holiday-Igoudala-Brand

Central:

2 Chicago: Rose-Deng-Boozer
9 Bucks: Jennings-Jackson-Bogut
12 Pistons: Stuckey-Prince-Monroe
7 Indiana: Granger-West-Hibbert
14 Cleveland: Irving-Jamison-Varejao

Southeast:

15 Charlotte: Augustin-Maggette-Diaw (They're so bad, Kemba almost got in)
4 Atlanta: Johnson-Smith-Horford
1 Miami: Wade-LeBron-Bosh
6 Orlando: Nelson-Richardson-Howard (No, Anderson isn't good enough yet)
11 Washington: Wall-Blatche-McGee (Very close between McGee and Young)

Northwest:

4 Portland: Felton-Wallace-Aldridge
2 Oklahoma City: Westbrook-Durant-Ibaka (Harden just isn't as important)
10 Denver: Lawson-Gallinari-Nene
11 Utah: Harris-Millsap-Jefferson
12 Minnesota: Rubio-Beasley-Love (Pretty Ricky is going to be starting by Feb)

Pacific:

5 LAC: Paul-Griffin-Jordan (Tough between him and Mo/Chauncey)
1 LAL: Bryant-Gasol-Bynum
15 Phoenix: Nash-Hill-Gortat (Free Steve Nash)
6 Golden State: Curry-Ellis-Lee
14 Sacramento: Evans-Thornton-Cousins

Southwest:

7 Dallas: Kidd-Odom-Nowitzki (LO just gets the nod over Marion)
13 New Orleans: Gordon-Kaman-Okafor
9 Houston: Lowry-Martin-Scola
3 Memphis: Gay-Randolph-Gasol
8 San Antonio: Parker-Ginobili-Duncan

alot of these are a real stretch as a "big three", its just a title for the most influential players on the team I guess.

Don't entirely agree with all your choices.

Where is Jason Terry on Dallas? You had to pick Odom over Marion? Why would Marion even be ahead of Terry? Terry is huge for that team. He's involved in lots of crunch time possessions.

Re: Clippers
I actually think Caron Butler is more valuable than Mo Williams. Butler is a more solid two-way player, and multiple all-star. If the third person is not Billups, I'd list Butler. Jordan just defends and rebounds.

Re: Spurs
How are they ranked behind Golden State? Is this purely based on offensive stats? It's your list, so I'm just asking. I'm not taking a shot at you. The ranking of the list will obviously depend on your chosen criteria.

After seeing how easily Curry can kill his ankle, I would rate GS pretty low.

Hey guys, in addition to criticizing my choices you guys could make your own list/rankings.

@Bill: You're right, Terry is more important than Marian. At the same time, in my big three calculation I'm going with the players who are most important to a teams' chances of winning a chip. In that case LO is still more important Terry or Marion, but it's close.

As for the Clippers, while you make good points, Jordan is still more integral to them winning a chip (especially on the defensive end) than Butler, Billups or Mo. Although he beats out Williams because they have a three guard rotation where only CP3 is being used to his fullest extent.

In terms of overall ability I think GState's three have the greater output at this stage, offensively and defensively. Parker and Ginobili have never been stellar defenders and Tim is another year older so I'd stick with the State.

I don't think our "big three" is all that big.

You just seem to be naming the best three players on each team. You disregard Ray because you consider him not as good as other three however without him I doubt Cletics would be very formidable in contending for the championship. It is not a big three league, your just naming who you believe are the best three on a team.
