Personally, I think that they'll go as far as their bigs (Pau & Bynum) will take them. They can still kill teams down low with those guys if they put their minds to it.

Teams will be prepared for Kobe's chucking in the playoffs... you can bet on that. Even Shaq was smart enough to see that once he went to MIA he wasn't going to be option #1 anymore.

All these "best" threads could be one thread... who cares about a poll.

Wesley Matthews
no, no, no, Wesley frickin' Matthews is amazing. We're trying to sell season Tickets over here. You will like Matthews and accept him as being your starting 2 guard for many years. Need those draft picks baby! Whoops, wait, I mean, we're making the playoffs baby!

Kobe. Has Wade made a jumper this season? I'm dead serious I haven't seen him score on a jump shot. Man is lethal when he slices inside or throws up those little floaters but he's getting worse and worse at shooting somehow lol.

Who is that Allen on the poll?

And it truly is remarkable that lot of people always say that in NBA you need a great wing player to win. And still when discussing the best wing guys you have only two options for each spot and I dont think none of those four guys will win a title this year (well Durant might).

There's no such thing as a low % shot for Kobe.

Kobe didn't play today. I know it's just one game, but you can see how terrible the offence looked. Bynum took 26 shots and Gasol took 25 shots, so they got theirs. The only player who really made anything outside of 10 feet consistently was Gasol. This team has no shooters.

Quote:
You take [Kobe] out and teams would pack the paint even harder than they have been doing.
Bynum took 26 shots. Made just 10. Why? Because PHX just packed the paint like I said they would if there is no Kobe. It's too easy to guard LAL. It has been the entire season. Just pack the paint and let the perimeter players beat you.

Quote:
Bynum is bad at passing out of double teams. We have no shooters. That's a bad mix.
Bynum: 35 minutes, 27 shot attempts...ZERO assists. The Lakers: 1-9 from 3, 10 bench points. That's just pathetic....

Quote:
It would become 10X easier to guard LAL (especially before they got Sessions).
Even if Kobe/Gasol/Bynum are performing at their best, it's not good enough for the them to win it all. That's why the Sessions acquisition was big...because it adds another weapon. However, I don't think it's enough for them to win it all and he's not the greatest shooter...that has always been LA's problem.

Quote:
Also, you exchange Wade/Kobe and I don't think the Lakers are better. Wade is a penetrating guard. With Bynum/Gasol in the paint, it will discourage penetration and encourage perimeter shooter. Wade is a terrible perimeter shooter and a fairly inconsistent mid range shooter.
I would love to watch Wade on this team. There's no doubt in my mind that he would struggle on many nights with Bynum/Gasol manning the paint and having no shooters around him. Add the fact that the Lakers offence is slow and too often the possessions go to the final seconds of the shot clock, and Wade's efficiency will drop. And his turnovers would increase. His midrange is inconsistent and he would get pushed out further to the perimeter where he is exponentially worse every foot he steps out. He would take a bunch of late shot clock shots (I can't tell you how many times this happens PER GAME for the Lakers) and long perimeter shots. If he doesn't shoot it then shitty shooters like Barnes/MWP would. Not a good situation.

Wade can't carry this team like Kobe can.

I think you're selling Wade short. He certainly didn't have a problem playing with a guy who dominated the paint in MIA (Shaq). And make no mistake.... Wade HAS carried the Heat over the years. How many wins did they end up with that year that he was injured? 15?

I think that the Lakers might be better off simply because Wade's ego isn't as out of control as Kobe's is.

You might want to ask Mike Brown that question.

That Wade is long gone man. Today's Wade has taken a step back. Like bjjs said, you ask me this question half a year ago and I'd say Wade is the better player...mostly because Kobe was pretty bad last season. This season has been different.

pau and bynum are the best pf/c combo in the league. bynum has shown he can dominate offensively, as well as on defense. pau is still one of the best pf in the league. if anything, he should hand over some offensive responsibilities.
