Heat Beasely wants to be MVP his rookie year

Quote:
Confidence is something that Michael Beasley has no shortage of and he proved it again this week when talking about what he wants from his rookie season in the NBA.

"I want to be MVP, no disrespect to nobody," Beasley said Monday. "I don't ever want to be second best. I feel I can walk down those steps to the locker room and be better than everybody else. I think going for rookie of the year is selling myself short."
Lol? Probably just exaggerating, but still, maybe he should worry about his team making the playoffs than himself individually. And nice way to respect Wade's ability.

It's so easy to see what player Beasely will be... super talented 23ppg+ player, who cares more about himself and his stats than winning and who drags teams down with his attitude and off court issues. Basically Melo with more muscle. No thank you, I'd either have taken Mayo 2nd or traded down.

beasley will definitely be a stud in the nba, no doubt.
so he's a little cocky, so what.
at least he has the balls to come out and say he wants to be the best. sheesh, people are so sensitive when a player talks about being the best or wanting to be the best. whats the big deal? would you prefer him saying he doesnt think he'll do well this year or doesnt feel confident in his abilities?
i'd love it if Bosh said something like this...

other than his college pranks and lazy mentality in a few games in college, i havent heard any bad press about him since joining the heat... why is he already getting a bad rep about "off the court issues"? has he had any since he's joined the nba?

i'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt before casting a shadow on him and mentioning him as a knucklehead or another 'carmelo' type.

so the kid says he wants to be the MVP... who doesnt?
he just actually says it out loud. so what?

would he be better off saying this instead:

"I dont want to be MVP, no disrespect to my teamates," Beasley said Monday. "I'd prefer to be second best. I dont feel I can walk down those steps to the locker room and be better than everybody else. I think going for rookie of the year is the best i can do."
i like it when a player can motivate themselves and actually have the balls to say they want to be the best, instead of passing the pressure off and avoiding the limelight ala VC.

Beasley fined $50,000 for involvement in Rookie Transition Program incidentAssociated Press

Thursday, September 18, 2008
NEW YORK -- Miami Heat rookie Michael Beasley was fined $50,000 by the NBA on Thursday after acknowledging that he was involved in an incident involving teammate Mario Chalmers and Memphis' Darrell Arthur at the Rookie Transition Program this month. The NBA said Beasley, the No. 2 overall pick, originally failed to cooperate with the league investigation of the matter. The Heat said Beasley eventually chose to reveal that he was part of the incident. Chalmers and Arthur, former Kansas teammates ...

Beasley will be a very good player on a very bad team.

Beasley being on the heat is going to increase the odds that Wade goes to a different team in 2010.

Love it.

Beasley ha always been "the big man on campus" (you can see how he has that mentality from the I want to be MVP etc talk") He is not going to like playing, at best, second fiddle to Wade, mabey even third to Marion and Wade. I mean come on, he cant even learn the playbook

Beasley will come off the bench this year in favor of a starting lineup of Banks/Quinn, Wade, Marion, Haslem and Blount. Book it.

The Heat may take the Knicks crown of dysfunction.

Keep an eye on this kid. I smell Isiah Ryder II.

LOL, since when did Rider avg 26 and 13 in college...
this kid is good, really good. his problem is that he doesnt try as hard as he should... thats all.
remember he's 19.
for all the times i hear someone say "take it easy, Bargs is only 21..."
the same goes for Beasley.
He will start in a few weeks snooch trust me.
the heat are in what is called organization limbo. they have one of the worst attendance records in the league and they are banking that a lineup of wade, marion, and beasley will bring the consumers back.
they will try and push small ball and move Haslem to C... opening up the PF spot for Beasley... just watch.

He'll be Carmelo part II, no question - his attitude, his mentality, his frame, his game, even his hometown...
