Default Barkley talks about the lottery possibly being rigged

You told us the story about Michael Jordan and Adam Morrison, the last time he had a really high pick. The Bobcats should, unless the lottery ball bounces the other way, get the number one pick. He's not going to screw this up. He would take Anthony Davis, would he not?

"I've got to tell you something, I'm really concerned about the number one pick in the draft this year. Well, number one, I think Michael would take Anthony Davis or I'd kill him (laughs). I can't say this, but I'm going to be watching the draft lottery very closely because I don't want no shenanigans."

What are you alluding to? What do you think could happen?

"I'm going to be very leery if Anthony Davis ends up in Brooklyn. You know, I'm going to be very leery because I know the NBA has a lot riding on that new arena, especially if Deron Williams leaves New Jersey. They didn't get Dwight Howard. I'm going to be very leery if New jersey gets that number one pick."

Are you a conspiracy theorist Chuck?

"I am. I am. (laughs) I am."

You think somebody got freezer burned from dry ice in the old ping pong ball days when they put their hand in that?

"You know, I go back to Patrick Ewing, so I believe in the conspiracy theories."

It's a deep draft, and if it is fixed we'll drop out of the top 5, Charlotte will drop to #3, NJ and Cleveland will be 1 & 2.

Let's see what happens.

I'm sure that conspiracy theorists will have a field day if New Orleans ends up with the #1 pick as well.

It doesn't matter who wins it, this backroom method will bring them out with any result.

Possibly?

What I don't understand is, can't the NBA benefit from US getting the first pick?

I'm tellin' you, it's all about the ping pong balls. Once it went to behind closed door discussions, you knew it's a farce. But you know what? A lottery is a lottery, and just because you get a 1-10 pick, doesn't mean that that player will do your team any good.

Now 2 of those picks is a much better scenario. Hornets and Blazers may have that opportunity this summer. But even with 2 top rookies, it's still a waiting game to see what the future holds, and many things can happen in that time.

The draft is where a sport tuns into a game.

I've always questioned the authenticy of the method they use to determine the draft order. But at the end of the day, the worst team has only a 25% chance of winning the first pick. While they have a higher chance than every other lottery team, they still have a 75% of NOT winning that pick. Wouldn't surprise me if the worst team doesn't get number one pick...

I hope that this is how it ends up, it would be cool if we pick above Cleveland and get someone like MKG. I think this is how the first few picks will be:

New Orleans - Anthony Davis (obvious choice)
Charlotte - Harrison Barnes (UNC connection, plus I doubt they would pick up an SG (heard MJ is happy with Henderson and thinks he's one of the more polished players on the Cats) or a big (Biyombo))
Washington - Bradley Beal (I think Vesely can be a good player for them, and they really need a good, consistent two way player)
Toronto - Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

The worst team almost never does.
