Magic Arenas already unhappy?

I must say, I dislike the Heat but I despise Orlando.

Quote:
Still grappling with a diminished reserve role in Orlando, Arenas said that he isn't as pumped for this contest as he was when the Wizards used to play his first team, the Golden State Warriors. "It's not like the old days," Arenas said, cracking a smile. "If I was calling my own plays, it'd be exciting."
That's Lee giving Arenas not so much an out, but a way to reflect fondly on his days in Golden State, coming off the bench to wreak havoc at either guard spot. Then, to compare it to his new role in Orlando favorably. And apparently, in a bit of revisionist history, Arenas is pining for the days of Dave Cowens and Eric Musselman (the sort of coach, and I like Eric, who would call four plays per play).

Apparently, it's Stan Van Gundy's fault that Gilbert Arenas is shooting below 35 percent, takes over three 3-pointers a game despite playing limited minutes (and shooting a miserable 25 percent from long range) and that he's working a 69 percent clip from the free-throw stripe. It looks to me as if Gilbert is freelancing quite a bit off the Magic bench, going one-on-one a lot and looking to rely on referee calls to bail out his bad shots. But maybe it's SVG that is calling out those terrible moves. We're not in the huddle.
Quote:
Should this be the last clue we have that tells us that it's finally time to stop hoping that Gilbert Arenas puts it all together? Most fans were hoping for a return to form in Orlando, playing in Penny Hardaway's shoes, fitting in on a team where he wouldn't be counted on to lead. And yet, somehow, he's gotten worse.

And, sadly, one gets the feeling that this could still get even worse.

I dislike Orlando and Gilbert Arenas. They deserve each other.

I actually like Gilbert Arenas when he was with Washington (early on).

I liked reading his blog and I liked how candid he was. He seemed to be just having fun out there and really it was nice to see it, where a lot of guys in this league seem to take themselves too seriously. He was over the top in a fun way.

I dunno what happened though...

They are better off without Gilbert. They need a guard who can find his own offense and get the team involved, also one who is explosive and not old like gilbert/VC. Barbosa comes to mind, he'd be good there in Orlando.

I dunno if Barbosa is the best player they could acquire. I think SVG would have a heart attack with him.

They really need a solid back up PG who can just settle things down and allow Nelson to move to the 2.

On topic, Orlando doesn't have a clue as to how to build a team. They think that assets == team. Instead, they have a bunch of pieces that don't fit together.

In terms of talent, Orlando is a top 5 team in the league. Howard, Nelson, Bass, two Richardsons, Arenas, Redick, Turkoglu, Anderson, Clark.

However in terms of chemistry...err......there is only one ball. Howard NEEDS his touches and rightfully so. However, Turk and Arenas demand the ball to be effective.

Also they're fucked with their contracts.

I agree with them having no chemistry. But Howard doesnt need the ball. He gets it many times from rebounding.

To be perfectly honest Jose would be a perfect fit in ORL.... he's a pass first guy who can deliver the ball into the post AND to shooters on the wing.

Sucks that we couldn't have dealt him there for Gortat + fillers.

Talent has nothing to do with the success (or lack thereof) of this team. They're starting fuckin Ryan Anderson at the four. No team with legitimate title aspirations should be starting a poor man's version of Rashard Lewis at the four. The Magic should be flipping Arenas for a big.

I'd take Earl Clark off their hands in a heartbeat.

I bet Orlando is just waiting for him to get healthy before they make him the starter. No way they took on his big ass contract for him to play just 20 mins a game. I doubt he makes an impact in Orlando until next season.
