Default Aquille Carr offered contract by Lottomatica Virtus Roma

HS Sophomore Aquille Carr Offered $750,000 Pro Contract Overseas

Baltimore native Aquille Carr, a 5-6 point guard who many consider the top player in the class of 2013, traveled to Milan, Italy a couple of weeks ago to take part in the Junior International Tournament. While out there, he helped lead the USA team to a gold medal. But that’s not all he returned home with. After turning heads with his performance, which included a 45-point outing, Lottomatica Virtus Roma — the same club that Milwaukee Bucks star Brandon Jennings played during his historic season in Europe — offered Carr a $750,000 annual contract. Carr is still weighing his options, but the possibility of him following in the footsteps of Jennings and Jeremy Tyler is a reality. Another decision that could shake the basketball world could very well be in the horizon!

Questions:
Would you do it if you were him?
Does this make the NCAA look like a second option now as the next step to the pros?

Jennings likely would have learned more basketball skills if he went to college, but it's a major life change that not many can handle well as he struggled with not playing and clashing styles...... it's not for most.

As for this kid, I find it interesting that a 5'6" player is being touted as the top of the draft class..... I'd bet he's in the lottery at best by the time that draft comes around. Size will always be the trump card.

The guy's handles and quickness is out of the world. His jumpshot's form is atrocious though.

He reminds me of Nate Robinson or Dejaun Wagner. You can tell he will have a similar build. If only this kid was closer to 6 FT. Paying $750,000 for a high school sophomore sounds ridiculous.

According to wiki:

Quote:
In April 2011, Carr played on the U.S. junior team in the Junior International Tournament in Milan, Italy. He led the team to capture the gold medal and averaged 40.0 points per game. After one game in which he scored 45 points, Italian fans carried him from the court.

Wow.... kid has some serious raw talent. RAW

He needs to go to school and learn to play man, he really does. It's one thing to have the raw talent and kill little kids, quite another to kill NBA players. Mugsy made a nice living in the NBA, no reason a kid like this couldn't too, but he HAS to learn to play properly.

Holy shit though, I can't lie, I was very entertained watching that.

remember these are just high school sophomore kids, thats why i always judge talent around the college level, look what happened to perry jones and harrison barnes who dominated well in high school but in the college level their stock dropped drastically because of exposure to their massive flaws

There's no way he's a High School Sophmore because I'm a High School Sophmore. He was born in '93, I was born in '96.

So he failed a grade or two, so what. Also does anyone else find it ironic that someone so fast could also be so slow?

Maybe that's why the European game is more enticing than college for this guy. Don't college athletes have to maintain a certain grade point average to be eligible to play?

Yes. You also have to have the grades(although it doesn't have to be as good as other students) to get in schools although some schools are different than others(Stanford is tougher to get into then Memphis for example)

Brandon Jennings didn't qualify to get into Arizona I believe which is one reason he went to Europe. I could be wrong on that but I believe I am right.
