Andrew Bynum Signs with Cleveland

If the tweet is true, and Bynum can stay healthy this year, CLE should be ready dangerous(well, if their entire lineup can stay healthy I should say).

They have a lineup built to beat the Heat, with their 2 best players at the 2 positions Miami is weakest at (PG/C), and they have offensive rebounding galore with Bynum, Thompson, Bennett, and Varejao.

They could go from cellar dwellar to a top seed in the east all in one offseason. If healthy.

I like the fit though, it's low risk, very high reward, and apparently its only 6 million guaranteed(2 yrs 24 million, 2nd year team option, and lots of incentives), so Bynum has to perform to make money.

Another very interesting new lineup, and team on the rise.

3rd at best imo. They're starting to look scary though.

Dario 07-10-2013 09:21 PM

wow that front line... kyrie and bynum if healthy woo

dwchills 07-10-2013 09:23 PM

Who' s your starting 4 on that team? I say Thompson bring Bennett and varajeo to sub Bynum ad TT

Windex 07-10-2013 09:24 PM

Bynum and Varejao might be able to get 40 games combined. Lets see if 1 of them can stay healthy.

Pretty sweet that Bynum and Varejao are only going to have to play about 20 min each per game. That's ideal.

It's a great gamble, i'm actually surprised that no team was willing to gamble more and give Bynum a big guaranteed 2-3 year deal.

But a lot of things have to go right for them to contend. Health as far as Bynum / Varejao / Kyrie. Improvement from the young guys, especially backcourt D. They also need to find a few wing defenders. Do they still have room for Kirilenko or such? I'm too lazy to check. They are deep inside but very shaky on the wings right now.

Another shot to our playoff hopes.

6 million guaranteed to recover from bad knees, maybe play a few games, and go to all the high end party clubs around the Cleveland area. What a deal for Cavs fans. Good thing they have Kyrie Irving, otherwise fans wouldn't fill the seats while retaining their deep hatred for LeBron James.

Last year Jack Armstrong said that no team will give him more than a 1yr guarantee before he can prove his knees are OK throughout the season. No GM wants to have Odon kind of scenario.

Philly got fucked

Ball Don't Lie 07-10-2013 11:05 PM

The great thing about this deal for CLE is the amount of depth they have, which has already been mentioned, which enables them to limit Varejaos minutes to around 25 mpg and Bynums to 25-30 mpg.

If the entire frontline is healthy, I think Brown will start Varejao with Bynum since Brown, like many coaches, prefers to play more experienced players over youth, and obviously because Varejaos a much better player than Thompson at this point. Plus they'll have potentially the best starting PF/C combo in terms of offensive rebounding in the NBA. Then you come off the bench with Thompson and Bennett in a more uptempo lineup, and you have a very good mix of players and difference in style of play in different parts of the game.

I really like their lineup, if healthy obviously. They still have Gee too who can fill in for good minutes at the 2/3 if needed.

It's hard to say this but I'm afraid they've overtaken our hopes for next year

If AK joins them too, then watch out Eastern Conference.

If healthy.
