Andray Blatche Receiving Interest From Heat, Spurs

The Heat and Spurs are amongst the team interested in signing Andray Blatche.

Blatche was waived by the Wizards in July using their amnesty clause.

Headcase, probably but Blatche was better every year till last year. What an anomaly consider what he had been doing and the growth he had shown. Wonder which contender will scoop him.

Blatche is one of the most talented bigmen in the NBA. But hes just too immature and stupid to realize and fulfill his potential. It may not even be worth the risk, though if the Spurs do get him and he actually plays well, they could beat the Thunder this time

What if he goes to the Heat? Could be like a Rodman situation where Jordan kept him in check, in this case it would be Wade and LBJ. Heat might be more enticing to Blatche than the Spurs.

This guy isn't as talented as some think. he's an underachiever and a sulker, and while he has some level of skill, it's nowhere near elite. He'll never be an all-star in any situation. Book it.

Miami could still use him, they desperately need a front court player to complement Wade, Allen and Lebron.

Totally agree about Miami however to me he's definitely an above average talented big man. 2 years ago he seemed to have grown to the point he would become an allstar. Excellent growth and numbers every year. Something definitely happened last year, to me a player that produces half of what he can do at such a young age tells me more happened behind the scenes that we as fans aren't privy too. maybe he pulled a Vince and quit on his team so he would get moved or waived - seemed like it to me and just another example of his immaturity. Maybe getting shot while being car jacked messed his head - or the hookers lmao. He would do well in South Beach - certainly wouldn't quit with the like of Wade/LBJ there.

Blatche only has three downsides. He is lazy, selfish, and has a bad attitude. Not sure why the Spurs are interested. They need a athletic defensive 4. Offensively they have enough weapons to contend with anyone in the league.

He is an athletic 4 that has the capability to play defense - back in his 3 year he had 1.4 bpg playing with Haywood at the 5.

Wrapped into the "lazy" is a reported bad work ethic, which is the kiss of death for many a talented player. I think the only way his career is saved is a Popovic-esque mentor figure to kick some sense into him. He's still young enough that a short leash and a respect-commanding leader could turn his career around.

Otherwise, his career will go downhill fast and he could be someone like perennial underachiever Boris Diaw, who has an amazing skillset but settles to be just good or OK at several things.

He isn't very athletic compared to today's standards. He may have averaged 1.4bpg in his 3rd year but the odds of him averaging any where near that are slim.

Even if they do run into the Lakers during the finals I don't think Blatche will be able to do anything to slow down LA's big men.
