I think you can make a case for him over Harden.

And if it was me, I'd take him over Chuckbrook too. Westbrook is the most overrated player in the NBA right now. If OKC had any of the true elite PGs there would be no doubt who would be winning the title this year.

I agree 100%. He's good, but there's plenty better. Its the team around him that helps make him great.

Again, hes good (really good) but there's better.

Steph didn't really get snubbed. There are just too many good players in the west. Deng is the only thing that stands out to me. It's not like the Bulls are top 2 in the conference. They didn't deserve two All-Stars let alone Deng being one of them; he's putting up only okay numbers in the most minutes in the league. Should have been Smoove for sure.

Josh Smith will probably never be an all-star. It's his 9th season and he's pretty much at his athletic prime. It's a shame he didn't make. Especially in the East because compared to the West they are quite low at the 4 and 5 spot.

Usually those numbers don't get you in the AS game.

He wouldn't have made it in the West either.

I was trying to point out that he can't even make it in the East. No way in hell would he make it in the West. Especially if Love and Dirk were healthy.

I'd find a number of more deserving guys, including one in Atlanta.

Yeah, i would have considered that crazy in December.

But at this point... The best defender on the best defense in the league. And he's basically 20-10-4 in January. AND he's doing it on a turtle slow team. Imagine his stats if the Pacers were playing at high pace like Houston or Denver.

Easily an All Star and soon a superstar if he keeps this up.

Overall, Marc Gasol, Steph Curry and Brook Lopez were the snubs, imo.

Its just stupid how people get there (mostly by fan choices) on old reputation. LA has 2 guys in starting lineup and Boston has two guys in there. Both teams suck. Even if Raps were few games better (essentially tied with Boston and LA), our best players wouldnt get even a look due to team record. Small wonder Nash and Pierce arent there too.

Westbrook makes OKC what they are. He is athletically dominant at the guard position. Defensively, offensively. His brainfarts simply give opponents a chance to beat him.

Westbrook plays great + his opponent playing great = Westbrook Wins.

This is why when people start rambling off how many times someone was an all-star I just ignore it. Its a useless number to use in how good anyone is.

Not to say they aren't or at least weren't great players though.

Marc Gasol is averaging 13 and 7. How was he supposed to make it?

brilliant D and passing. Imo, he's defensive player of the year so far. Though someone from a big market or with huge shot blocking stats will probably get it.
Just great all around game. Fundamentally sound basketball. He doesn't grab a ton of boards but he's boxing out, tipping, helping his teammates get them. Memphis is the best rebounding team in the league going by rebound percentages.
Like, Al Jefferson gets 10 boards a game but he's chasing them instead of proper box outs and leaving his man open. That's not good basketball. I'd much rather have a fundamentally sound player who's doing everything it takes to win, even if it doesn't show in individual stats.

Duncan has been doing the same thing for 16 seaons and he has yet to win the DPOY award. I wouldn't be surprised if they gave it to him this year considering he is 3rd in blocks.

i didn't even realize Duncan hasn't got one. that's crazy.
i don't think he deserves it this year, he blocks shots but his D overall isn't the same. But i could see a makeup-ish award.

He should. Al Horford also has a strong case. But I'd guess Brook.

Although I'm not sure about the rule. Do they have to replace a guard with a guard? If so, D-Will and Joe Johnson have also really picked it up.

Either way, I think it will be a Net.
