All-Star Reserves

So the All-Star Starters have been named and I thought a prediction for the All-Star Reserves would spark some debate, so I ask you...

Who will the seven reserves for each conference be as voted by the 30 head coaches? (coaches can't vote for their own players)

For reference, here are the starters:

East

Derrick Rose
Dwyane Wade
LeBron James
Amar'e Stoudemire
Dwight Howard

West

Chris Paul
Kobe Bryant
Carmelo Anthony
Kevin Durant
Yao Ming - to be replace by Stern, I'm certain he'll choose Pau Gasol to start.

Also, if they reveal who votes for whom, do you think Jay will have voted for CB to be a reserve?

Here are my picks. I picked 8 for Western Conference due to Yao Ming injury

East: Rajon Rondo, Chris Bosh, Joe Johnson, Brook Lopez, Paul Pierce, Raymond Felton, Al Horford

West: Blake Griffin, Kevin Love, Deron Williams, Pau Gasol, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, Zach Randolph, Russell Westbrook

East:

Rajon Rondo, Raymond Felton, Paul Pierce, Chris Bosh, Al Horford, Josh Smith (finally?), Kevin Garnett

West:

Russell Westbrook, Deron Williams, Dirk Nowitzki, Blake Griffin, Tim Duncan, Lamar Odom, Steve Nash, Pau Gasol (starter)

East: Horford, Pierce, Rondo, Bosh, Joe Johnson, Felton, and somebody who doesn't deserve it. KG or Shaq perhaps.

West: Deron Williams, Ellis, Ginobili, Nash, Love, Pau (starting for Yao), Dirk, and Randolph (or Griffin).

forme123 01-28-2011 02:44 AM

why is it most of u have bosh as an allstar?

KollegeKid 01-28-2011 02:55 AM

because he's one of the best players on one of the teams with the best record in the eastern conference.

Nites 01-28-2011 03:20 AM

East: Rajon Rondo, Chris Bosh, Joe Johnson, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Raymond Felton, Al Horford

West: Blake Griffin, Manu Ginobili, Deron Williams, Pau Gasol, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, Tim Duncan, Russell Westbrook

After some research here's my stab at what the reserves will be:

East

Rajon Rondo G
Raymond Felton G
Ray Allen G
Paul Pierce F
Kevin Garnett F
Chris Bosh F
Al Horford C

Darkhorse Guard: Joe Johnson
Darkhorse Forward: Danny Granger

West

Deron Williams G
Monta Ellis G
Manu Ginobili G
Dirk Nowitzki F
Blake Griffin F
Kevin Love F
LaMarcus Aldridge C

Darkhorse Guard: Russell Westbrook
Darkhorse Forward: Rudy Gay

I also think Jay will vote for CB.

P.S. Josh Smith and Steve Nash were the hardest cuts.

The Great Debate-All Star Reserve Predictions 2011

I just watched the TNT version of this, so I figured this would be a good topic of conversation on RF as well.

Who do you have for your Eastern/Western Conference Reserves?

I'm mostly intereted in how people factor in who should/shouldnt be an allstar based on ___. Most of the time the ___ is winning.

So here are mine:

EAST:

Rondo
Pierce
KG
Felton
Horford
Johnson
Bosh

With the East its actually hard to find legit allstars for the 9-12 spots. I think Pierce Rondo Horford are locks, but the others are not putting up their best seasons outside of Felton who hasnt been good these past few weeks. The only one outside of these guys who has a good shot of making it is Ray Allen IMO. If theres anyone I'm missing let me know.

WEST:

Westbrook
Ginobli
Gasol
Nowitzki
D Williams
Love
Griffin

The West is where its a lot tougher. Those are my top 7, but there are a lot more guys deserving of a spot in the West vs the East.

You have Parker, Duncan, Aldridge, Gay, Randolph, Ellis and Nash.

The main question with the West is if Love and Griffin are going to make it.

This is where what your perception of an allstar is comes in to play.

Guys like Kenny Smith are saying Love shouldnt make it because of his team only winning 10 games.

But when you compare his season vs Tim Duncans, yeah Duncan is winning, but Love is putting up numbers not seen since 30 years ago.

Whoever is playing the best ball should be playing in the allstar game win or lose as long as they're not the one helping bring down their team and being a main reason why they're losing games.

I won't be happy if Duncan makes it over one of them because of record and not play.

So, who you got and why?

Already one of these topics :D

We have a really weak East in terms of All-Star talent. I have a feeling we're going to see 4 All-Stars from Boston though.

Dark Knight 01-28-2011 06:22 PM

The East is getting harder and harder to predict. My would have to look like this:

Rondo
Horford
Smith
Pierce
Allen
Felton

And my final spot would go to one of either Bosh or Boozer. Tough to choose.

And then my Western Team:

Gasol
Griffin
Westbrook
Love
Nash
Nowitzki
Ginobili

bosh is coming off the bench no doubt

Wow 4 Celtics. Love got snubbed but someone had to, good to see the Blake made it though.

TORaptor4Ever 02-03-2011 07:54 PM

Good for Blake. And good for Bosh too.
