I think that was because the Lakers couldn't have expected the winning Boozer and they were just looking to hit the salary floor, but now that they have Lin and Boozer and might be getting Bledsoe, they maybe have a shot at the playoffs at least. So it was foolish in that they just should have waited. They desperately need a small forward other than Wesley Johnson though. Metta World Peace part II?

Again.. can't use TPE with players in it right? Not sure how they do it but it pretty much has to include Nash if its a big contract which should mean giving up another pick. They have some cap space left (about 8 mil?) but depends what he signs for. Crazy.

I think what the Lakers would like to do, is just hang on for a couple seasons until LeBron James and Kyrie Irving decision their way to Hollywood.

If they turn Hill + Randle into Bledsoe they'll definitely better than last year. Lin, Bledsoe, Kobe and Boozer would at least be in contention for the ninth spot, providing Kobe is still a 20/5/5 player or better. And remember, this is the Lakers we're talking about. Never underestimate the Lakers. Kupchak doesn't get off the phone.

LeBron will re-sign a 120M + contract for 4-5 years after his current expires and he will retire a Cav.

Irving just signed a five-year extension. He's not going anywhere soon.

They have 30-40 mil in cap space again next year. Try and reload but slim pickings next year for UFAs.

Yeah, he's locked in till 2019 before he can use his eto....plus he has a 15% trade kicker plus he has the Derrick Rose provision, so it will be at 30% of the cap.

Quote:
The full value of Irving’s extension will not be known until the 2015-16 salary cap is set next July. If the cap rises by the same amount it did this past year, the baseline would be roughly $90.7 million. Having been voted into the All-Star game last season, Irving would trigger the Derrick Rose rule – raising his contract to $108.8 million based on the the same projected cap – only by winning MVP or being voted as an All-Star starter this coming season - LINK
Sorry, just don't see Irving as a 20 mil per player - stupid Cavs lmao and the Lakers are n't stupid enough to trade for him and activate that 15% kicker on top of everything else.

HAHAHA I have to agree with the writer when he stats that between Irving's extension and James' potential monster extension in a couple years, add in TT's QO next year and Waiters the year after good 'ol Dan's checkbook is going to get some serious burn! If they go after Love say hello to my little friend..."repeater tax" - can they afford him with his new contract next year? Quite the heading that team is on salary wise....better start winning those 'chips now....not sure the Cavs can wait too long lol

hahahahah they won't win with LBJ imo, that team won't be enough to overcome the Spurs or who ever comes out of the West.

100% I hope they keep that Canadian core together, I personally feel they'll have a much better chance to win than trading Wiggins and another Canadian for Love.

on an aside, I have a strange feeling that they'll get Wiggins to sign his contract under the premise that he'll stay then trade him for Love.

I was reading the other day somewhere that the Cavs offered Wiggins, Bennett and Waiters for Love While the Wolves want to sent Kevin Martin with Love.

Quote:
The Minnesota Timberwolves and Cleveland Cavaliers have discussed a blockbuster trade centered around Kevin Love and the league's last two No. 1 draft picks, league sources told ESPN. In an attempt to add Love, a three-time All-Star, the Cavaliers are willing to part with Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett, the top picks in the past two drafts. One source said the Cavs are also willing to give up a first-round draft pick for next season.

At one point, a trade seemed close to happening, but Minnesota wants more than the Cavaliers are currently offering, sources said. ESPN.com

After he signs his contract he can't be traded for 30 days. Trading Wiggins would be gross stupidity. The Cavs don't win with Love.

Oh I know exactly who he is but billionaires don't become billionaires by losing big money for years but yeah, I can see him doing it.
