The Memphis Grizzlies will look to trade for Tom Thibodeau for a head coach/president of basketball operatoins role.

The Grizzlies parted ways with Jason Levien as CEO on Monday.

The Chicago Bulls could use the extra assets for a run at Kevin Love and an extra first round pick would help in their trade efforts.

Fred Hoiberg would be hired by the Bulls if Thibodeau goes to the Grizzlies.

Taj Gibson was told by the Chicago Bulls' coaching staff that he will start next season.

The Bulls are widely expected to trade or amnesty Carlos Boozer.

Gibson confirmed that he has been told “to get my body and mind right to be a starter.’’

“I mean this will be exciting,’’ Gibson said in a phone interview. “This is what I’ve always thought about. When I started [those six games] for Boozer when he was hurt during the season, I just know how excited I was, how good it felt to come to the arena.’’

The Bulls also figure to pursue Kevin Love and Carmelo Anthony.

I doubt they seriously think they're getting Love tbh. I do think they'll take a healthy run at Carmelo though and that's their main target.

Wonder if Gibson would like to start for Minnesota? lol

A Melo/Gibson/Noah frontcourt is so scary. They would annhilate the boards, and the potential of those guys with a healthy DRose would be ridiculous. Miami would be finished.

But Rose being healthy just seems like it's never going to happen again, so I guess it's a moot point.

I agree with the Cavs not wanting to pay him max money. He is definitely not a max money player simply because he hasn't done anything major in the NBA since arriving.

Don't forget jimmy butler, given that he is not involved in any trade to get the aforementioned.

A healthy rose/butler/melo/Gibson/Noah lineup Coached by thibs is simply mouth watering. That would be the team to watch.

This is sure shaping up to be one epic offseason for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

By snagging their third No. 1 draft pick of the last four years, the Cavs have the chance to land a potential franchise cornerstone from one of the deepest classes in recent memory. Or they could part with the pick to land more immediate help, such as Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Kevin Love, who is apparently available, according to The Associated Press' Jon Krawczynski.

Or Cleveland could think even further outside of its current box and trade franchise face Kyrie Irving for what would surely be a treasure trove of assets.

It's hard to say what would need to happen for the Cavaliers to open up door No. 3, but according to Sam Amico of Fox Sports, that's exactly what other NBA teams are trying to figure out:
Quote:
Irving, for everyone who's spent the past 12 months under a rock, is eligible to receive a contract extension this summer.

With two All-Star trips to show for his first three NBA seasons, there's been an assumption that the Cavaliers would hand him a max contract offer. The Morning Journal's Bob Finnan reported in April one was likely forthcoming.

"The Cavaliers are expected to offer Irving a five-year, $80 million maximum extension on July 1," Finnan wrote.

But question marks have long littered these negotiations despite the fact they may not have officially started yet.

Did Irving even deserve that type of financial commitment? Would he even put his pen to the paper if the contract was in fact offered?

ESPN.com's Chad Ford reported in January that Irving "has been telling people privately he wants out." During an April interview with Cavs: The Blog's Robert Attenweiler, ESPN's Brian Windhorst said, "[Kyrie's] camp has been putting out there for years &ndash years – that he doesn't want to be in Cleveland."

If the Cavs trade Irving it'd just further prove that they're one of the worst franchises in sports. He's one of the most talented players in the NBA, and they should be doing everything in their power to build a winner around him this summer, and it starts with the draft. Maybe their new GM will actually be decent unlike their last, and get him some help in the off season.

Trading Irving is asinine - if posters think he's not worth the contract they haven't paid close attention to his play. Though if rumours be true, the Cavs might not have a choice.
