Oh please, can we get him.....

Quote:
Free agent shooting guard Thabo Sefolosha has received calls and is scheduling further meetings with interested NBA teams, including the Los Angeles Clippers, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets and Toronto Raptors among others, league sources told RealGM.

Sefolosha has spent six of his last eight NBA seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder, but the 6-foot-7 guard fell out of Scott Brooks’ rotation late in the postseason. He averaged 6.3 points and 3.6 rebounds a season ago, maintaining his defensive fortitude but regressing in his jump shot.

Sefolosha hadn’t been expected to return to the Thunder, and the franchise has yet to register interest in him, a source said.

Sefolosha, 30, was a first round draft acquisition by the Chicago Bulls in 2006 and immediately flourished as a defender. He has averaged 5.8 points and 3.7 rebounds over his NBA career.

I think he'd be great here defensively. We don't need offense imo.

If we were able to sign Sefolosha and VC on cheap deals, it'd be a hugely successful off season. Both guys would bring completely different skillsets to our bench, and we'd have so much more versatility off our bench especially at the wing position.

Both would probably be too many players off the bench if we sign both GV/KL.

Klow - Vasquez - De Colo
Derozan - Sefolosha - Williams
Ross - Carter - Sefolosha - Caboclo
Johnson - Patterson - PsychoT - Nogueira
Valanciunas - Johnson - Nogueira - Hayes

16 players, and far too many wings. Great depth though.....maybe De Colo isn't brought back with Williams here, if KL/GV are retained.

Something tells me MU expects someone to overpay for GV and he won't be back.

No one is giving GV more than 4.5 million IMO. If I'm Masai, I'd bring him back only if it's on a short term deal(2 years), even if it's a bit more expensive. They length of the contract is extremely important.

I say GV gets a 6-7mil per offer. Teams like Dallas, Houston and even Miami will give him in that range once they strike out on the bigger players. Just a gut feeling I get. I have a feeling Williams will be our backup PG next season and we'll keep Nando.

Isaiah Thomas got an 8 million a year offer, and he's 10x better than Greivas. Greivas isn't viewed as a starting PG, nor should he be, and there's no way a team will pay a backup PG 6-7 million a year when he's only going to play 25 minutes max. That's how you get into cap hell, and teams are a lot more weary of giving out mid level deals to mid level guys now with the new CBA, thats why you saw teams pass on Thad Young at the deadline despite his extremely reasonable contract.

Wasn't he a good starter a couple years ago? I still say Dallas will over pay a PG like they did with Calderon last year. They are in need of a PG and if Lowry/Thomas don't go there what other options do they have......Felton? I suppose they could blow their brains out on Bledsoe

Vasquez had high assist numbers playing a lot of minutes, but it was obvious his numbers were inflated and his high assist numbers were mostly attributed to the pick and roll system that NOH ran. He's not a true creator, but he makes good decisions. He can't be one of your primary options on offence or you're going to be in trouble, and he's just not good enough to be a solid starter offensively, and defensively he's a siv.

I would be absolutely flabbergasted if he got 6-7 million.

Mehh, this day and age I wouldn't at all. Especially with the limited pool of quality PG's available after Lowry/Bledsoe. When teams start striking out on bigger names and have money to spend that's the prefect scenario for teams over paying. Then again, maybe he just gets the MLE?

That's the thing though, you're referring to a different era than this one, because teams now are giving out much more reasonable contracts to fringe starters or good bench players because they're afraid of the tax and afraid of losing their flexibility.

That's why you see guys like Jeff Green and Young who make 8-9 million, who are good players, being so difficult to move nowadays. You aren't seeing the mid level contracts being shelled out to fringe guys(lesser players than Young and Green) anymore because teams know they're going to end up regretting it.

The only contracts I can think of last off season that occurred where fringe players got long term deals for large amounts were Zaza at 3/15 and Landry at 4/28, and both deals look terrible now, especially Landrys.

Paying 5-9 million for guys who aren't effective long term starters is a cap killing and progress halting move nowadays.

Before the new CBA, you would have seen a player like Hansbrough get 3 years 12 million I believe, and I was honestly shocked when we got him for so cheap. Now, he only got 1 year with a team option for year two at 3 million per. I think the fringe players are getting more cap friendly deals and they have to for teams to be able to go out and get good players.

There's definitely no way the Heat will pay him that much.
