Doc Rivers' status as head coach of the Boston Celtics for next season remains unclear.

"Doc loves coaching," a source told Chris Broussard. "He loves coaching in Boston. But he feels it may be time for a change."

Rivers appears to be waiting on whether the Celtics will bring back Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce next season.

i thought doc was considering calling it quits before his last extension to spend time with the family. i don't see a point for him to stick around waiting on garnett's word. the team is essentially finished, especially if they're not bringing back pierce.

He will go coach his son in NO and Anthony Davis will become KG :cookie:

Doc Rivers would be the top choice of the Los Angeles Clippers if he doesn't return to the Boston Celtics, according to sources.

The Clippers have not requested permission from the Celtics to interview Rivers.

Rivers has three seasons remaining on his contract with the Celtics at $7 million annually.

Donald Sterling could pay as much as $5 million per season, according to several executives.

The Celtics could ask for compensation in order for the clippers to hire Rivers.

Rivers has wavered over his decision on whether or not to return to the Celtics next season.

Doc Rivers is open to other high-profile coaching jobs, according to sources with knowledge of his intentions.

According to one source, itís fair to assume Rivers would want some measure of player personnel control if he were to accept a new job.

Rivers is expected to announce his intentions within the next several days.

Rivers? O.o
Bring him to Taranno! :dancing:

I feel we're really missing out on a very strong crop of coaches by keeping casey.

Don Vito 06-13-2013 02:43 PM

Weren't we going to get Rivers here before he signed with Boston? Rivers > Casey. It would be great to have a coach who won a championship as a head coach.

woodchuck 06-13-2013 03:48 PM

If he's leaving Boston, he's not going to go to Toronto to oversee an even messier rebuilding project.

The Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics discussed trade scenarios in February that would have sent centered around both Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce.

The Celtics would have acquired Eric Bledsoe and DeAndre Jordan in what would have been a wider package.

The Clippers plan to be "very aggressive" and "shake every tree" to upgrade the roster this offseason, though it is unknown if they have attempted to revisit talks with the Celtics.

Shaw I could see as he's unproven. Rivers maybe and he hasn't even committed to leaving though I could see a 3 "person" trade - KG,PP,Doc to the Clippers. Paraphrasing Billups, Griffen could learn how not to be Puddy cat on the court.

Other than those 2 I don't see what you're saying.

I would also take Hollins, Karl over Casey. If we don't keep Casey after next season who will be available and will there be a better bunch of coaches available? Doubtful

Agree if we can Ujiri should try to snatch one, we dont even have to fire Casey just demote him. Doubt that he would be very offended to be assistant of Rivers, Hollins or Karl
