he better then Prigioni

and with Kidd retired, and Shumpert getting injured lots, he'll get some solid court time.

Definitely a solid pick-up at a bargain price.

Al Harrington is moving toward signing a deal with the Washington Wizards.

Harrington was recently waived by the Orlando Magic.

Harrington played just 10 games last season, but has been training this summer with Joe Abunassar. Harrington has lost 27 pounds since the end of the season.

Damn I forgot he was available. I would have taken Udrih over Augustin.

100% agree. Would love Beno here but I think he would rather contend at this point that go to a rebuild. Still, I like his play.

That really surprised me tbt as he stated he wants to go to a contender regardless of money. He's either full of sh!t or no contender wanted him. Although maybe he's deluding himself that the Wizards are now a contender;

Wall/Beal/O.Porter/Nene/Okafor with Seraphin/Al/Ariza/Webster/Maynor plus Rice Jr and Vesely still.

Contender though they are not, 1st round fodder, can't see much further and I doubt they stay healthy.

Harrington is going to WAS because its a good opportunity for him to get minutes and be effective in a role he should excel in, which is being a stretch 4 off of the bench, and likely playing extended minutes at times because none of WAS' bigs can ever stay healthy for long stretches. He'll be a great fit off of the bench for WAS if he can knock down 3 point shots, because John Wall is going to create havoc next year if their guard/forward core of him, Beal, Webster, Ariza, Porter, and Nene can stay relatively healthy. There will be a ton of open shots to go around with Walls penetrating ability.

Plus, if Wall and Beal can really develop good chemistry next season, they will be one of the most lethal backcourts in the NBA, and a team that will give teams problems come playoff time.

Oh yeah, and Udrih is not a better player than Pablo at this point. Udrih is a better shooter, but Pablo is a better floor general and much better decision maker, and defensive player. He impacts winning more than Beno.

Sixers finally found some sucker, oh, I mean they finally find an experienced, creative, and well sought after assistant to be their head coach.

That's the key for sure but I doubt they go past the first round.

Pablo's lack of shooting creates other issues and I'm not sure about Pablo being better as a floor general - he averaged 3.5/3 on .455 shooting in 16 minutes (21mpg in the playoffs the change was nominal 4.5/3.2 except his eff went down to .395) where Beno had his best assist season last year with averages of 10.2/6.1 in 27 minutes. Beno's last 4 years in Sac and his last season in Orlando he's averaged 12/5 on .465 shooting.

I would take either as they seem comparable in stats and abilities as a back-up.

Eric Griffin has signed with the Miami Heat on a training camp deal.

Griffin averaged 6.4 points and 2.0 rebounds per game in 21.1 minutes for the Heat in the Summer League.

Griffin is a 6-8 forward out of Campbell that went undrafted in 2012..

Yeah I dont think they'll make it past the 1st round either, but if healthy, and if Wall and Beal develop good chemistry, they'll be an extremely tough out in the playoffs IMO.

Pablo runs a team better than Udrih in terms of getting guys the ball in comfortable spots, and running the offence exactly how the coach wants. Hes unselfish to a fault. I really dont think hes a bad shooter, but he passes up so many shots to try and get his teammates looks which can sometimes hurt the team. I think he does everything in his power not to shoot but instead find an angle to open up a lane for his teammates to shoot, thus me thinking hes a better floor general.

Beno is more of a threat obviously on pick and rolls because hes a very solid midrange shooter off the dribble.

They play much different games, but both are effective in what they do.

It'll be very interesting to see which starting lineup the Knicks go with, as they could go in many different directions this year in terms of their starting unit. It could be Felton, Pablo, Iman, Melo, Chandler, or Felton, Iman, Melo, Amare Chandler. Or Felton Iman Melo Bargnani Chandler. Or possibly Felton Iman Melo MWP Chandler. Woodson will really have to play around with his lineup to find the best options.

I'll REALLY be looking forward to having Doug Collins back in the broadcast booth this season (I'm assuming he will be?).

He's easily been my favourite colour man for some time now.

Felton Iman Melo MWP Chandler.

I think they'll end up rolling with this.

Nikola Pekovic didn’t want to leave Minnesota, and the Timberwolves weren’t about to let him go.

After weeks of negotiations, waiting and watching, the two sides came to agreement on Wednesday on a new five-year contract that could be worth more than $60 million after incentives.

“Retaining Pek was our No. 1 priority this offseason and we’re very excited that he’s chosen to continue his career in Minnesota,” Wolves president of basketball operations Flip Saunders said in a statement issued by the team. “Thanks to a lot of hard work and determination, Pek has developed into one of the NBA’s premier centers and is entering the prime of his career.”

After posting a career-high 16.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per game last season, the 27-year-old Pekovic was a restricted free agent when the NBA’s fiscal year opened on July 1. That meant the Timberwolves had the right to match any offer he received from another team, and Saunders made it clear from the start that they would do whatever it took to keep him in Minnesota.

In the end, that included adding a fifth year on the initial four-year, $48 million offer they presented Pekovic and his agent, Jeff Schwartz, a few weeks ago.

I thought the Timberwolves were going to move away from bad contracts? I thought that is why Minnesota fired David Kahn? Maybe this is a fall back contract when they trade Kevin Love? Need to have at least 1 marquee player on every franchise, as ordered by the last CBA strike.

It's not a bad contract. 12 mil for a good starting center. I guess 5 years are a bit risky, considering he had some small injuries. Then again, those were small injuries.

I'd prefer a different type of center there. A rim protector. But fit aside, Pekovic is worth 12 mil.

A 16/8 center that doesn't block shots is worth 12mil/yr? Especially one that has only been good for 2 seasons....

An efficient tough low post scorer, one of the best offensive rebounders in the league, and a good man defender vs. other centers.
He has flaws, but that's why he doesn't get max. In a league where Tiago Splitter gets 9 mil and Al Jefferson gets 13.5 mil, Pekovic at 12 mil is very good, he's better value.
