I saw a Larry Bird interview during the Summer league where he basically said 1. it's a shame what happened with Harden/OKC, but 2. Indiana will soon have to do the same.

Which IMO means no tax. They will extend George, maybe re-sign Stephenson next summer if he's not too expensive, and that's it, they'll be right at the edge of tax. They'll let Granger go.

I hate how veteran players get to dictate their situation though. They should honour the rest of their contract. Camby had many, many years to win. It's his own fault that he failed to win while he had time.

The Atlanta Hawks have claimed Gustavo Ayon off waivers, a league source told RealGM.

Ayon was released by the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday with their glut in the frontcourt, but the 6-foot-10 big man received heavy interest due to his inside presence and reasonable contract worth $1.5 million next season.

Ayon is expected to get a fair trail to earn a spot in a Hawks rotation that has lacked a young, developing center alongside Al Horford.

Ayon, 28, has averaged 4.8 points and 4.3 rebounds in two NBA seasons. The Hawks will be his fourth team.

I agree we could have used him a bit here & it would be kinda cool to see him in a Raps uni again IMO

Word from multiple witnesses of Greg Oden’s workouts this week: He looks quite lean & is moving quite well. No wonder so many teams in hunt

The next steps: Teams will make formal offers early this week in terms of money & medical care. Then Oden should make choice by week’s end

Personally, I think he'll go the route of Sam Bowie and average a double double his first year where ever he goes (range of 12/10/2)- the Heat preferably - and then taper out to 10/8/1.5 for a couple years. The defensive presence Oden could offer the Heat would allow them to truly go 4 out 1 in or settle into a plodding half court defensive game like the playoffs.

Lakers rehire Rambis as an assistant lol. Might be weak but it still acknowledges that Phil should have been hired in the first place since he trained him.

What a mess

Phil is not really capable of coaching. It's a moot point.

Multiple witnesses for Greg Oden's workout. Yet not one single video has surfaced. I'm very skeptical about Oden's return to the NBA. When we see Oden show up to events as a spectator, he's either on crutches or walking with a noticeable limp. There are other career opportunities for Oden. He's a young man and has made enough money to retire on.

NBA basketball is not the best route for Oden to take in my opinion. For I am one of the multiple witnesses that Oden's camp wants to ignore.

Al Harrington is going to make a contending team very happy to have him come off the bench. ...too bad he didn't 'get it' when he was younger. Anyone want to guess where he'll go?

Quote:
Despite averaging 20.7 points as a starter for the New York Knicks five seasons ago, Harrington wants to return to the super-sub role he played so well with the Nuggets. He averaged 14.2 points and 27.5 minutes per game for the Nuggets in 2011-12 while finishing fourth in NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award voting. No matter what he's being paid or whom he's playing for, Harrington is looking forward to competing again. "I want to win, so I'll put it like this: I want to go to a situation where I can compete to make the playoffs," he said. "I'm too old to play for nothing. When I was younger, of course you play for stats and you want to be good, but I'm not going to be a Hall of Famer or nothing like that, so I want to win. I just want to win. "Whatever situation I can get to where I can help a team win, that's what I want to do. I don't want to play 36 minutes or none of that. Play 20, 25 minutes, just help mentor the young guys and stuff like that." USA Today Sports

And as he has been waiting to learn of his new destination, with the Magic likely to either trade him or waive him sooner rather than later, the 33-year-old who swears he isn't done yet has had his views crystallized on today's NBA. "Being in that situation in Orlando, you get a real good look at politics and stuff like that, the part of the game that's not attractive — just the business side of it," Harrington told USA TODAY Sports recently while training in Las Vegas. "One thing I realized is that it's not about how much you can play or what you can do on the court anymore. The game has become about (financial) numbers and salaries and stuff like that. "It's not what you can do anymore. It's what you can do at that price. And everybody wants a deal, you know what I mean?"

I agree but I can see Miami, Chicago and the Spurs in that group as well. If Al truly wants to win I would think Miami or the Spurs.

I like Brown as a defensive back-up somewhere - he has his niche carved out.

The Dallas Mavericks are close to a deal with DeJuan Blair.

Blair has been expected to leave the San Antonio Spurs for several seasons after he fell out of Gregg Popovich's rotation.

The Mavericks will feature the additions of Blair and Samuel Dalembert to the frontcourt this offseason.
