Free agent guard Pablo Prigioni has reached agreement on a three-year, $6 million contract to re-sign with the New York Knicks, league sources told RealGM.

Prigioniís new deal with the Knicks allows him to earn $2 million per season and includes a team option in the third season, partially guaranteed, a source said.

With Jason Kidd retired and now coaching the Brooklyn Nets, the Knicks moved swiftly to bring back Prigioni. After the season ended in the Eastern Conference semifinals, Prigioni went back to his native Argentina to contemplate his future, but the 36-year-old returned before the NBA draft and notified the Knicks that he planned to continue playing in the NBA.

Prigioni has given Mike Woodson an experienced, sharp point guard, and the Knicks understood his importance early in free agency. Prigioni averaged 3.5 points and three assists in 78 games a season ago. The Knicks also re-signed J.R. Smith on Thursday.

It's very likely that the Hornets got the better end of this deal now and in the future. A lot has to go right for PHI to win that trade.

Hey, the Knicks finally did something right this offseason!
Yeah, but that's just part of the picture. They are going to "trade" a late lotto or non-lotto pick but they are going to "lose" a high lotto pick because that's what they'd likely have without the deal. They gave up an elite rebuilding opportunity for a point guard who's less efficient than Brandon Jennings.

That doesn't mean I don't like Holiday, not at all, he's aggressive, nasty, solid D, he can shoot, big, athletic, quick. But "all star caliber season?". Nah. If we mean specifically that he was selected into the All Star game, then sure. He had very good 3 months at the right time. Overall, his season was subpar compared to typical All Stars.

They'll need him to improve to justify the deal. Even then, between Noel and high lotto 2014 prospects, they seem to be losing assets here.

Anyway. They've set a goal to make the playoffs, so fair enough. Not every organization has the stomach for long rebuilding.

Not sure if this was posted yet, but Caldy declined Kings offer.

So now they agreed to:
Quote:
3-way deal, Kings send Tyreke Evans to Pelicans, Nola's Vasquez to Kings and Robin Lopez to Blazers. Port sends picks and cash.

Sounds like Ujiri's pet project.

I don't remember him play. I'm downloading the Kings game where he got big minutes just out of curiosity.

Looking at college / D-League numbers, i'm under impression that he can't score at all or shoot at all. But his passing / rebounding and defensive numbers are pretty impressive for a point guard. Nice wingspan too.

It's hard to make it in the league if you aren't an offensive threat at all.

Evans to Pelicans, Vasquez to Kings, Robin Lopez to Trailblazers
Might be more details.
