Who the hell are the kings going to blow their wad on? Are they going to match the Pelicans offer for Evans? hmmm..

That's going to get ugly in three-four years. I guess Denver has to re-sign him and 5 years is the least painful way to do it. But I'd start looking at trades in a year or two, if I was them.

The Milwaukee Bucks are offering Kyle Korver a three-year contract worth $20 million.

These more lucrative offers have led the Brooklyn Nets out of the chase for Korver.

The Bucks traded J.J. Redick on Tuesday.

Korver played for the Atlanta Hawks last season.

I dunno Carp, he's 30 this year and a lot of his play is predicated on his athleticism, certainly only in spurts now (and for a new contract in a contract year). I agree with Woodchuck, I'd move him in a couple years max to avoid his coming hefty salary and flat feet.

yet he's physically strong enough to defend even if losing a step, has good ball skills, has shown an improved shooting stroke, passing skills, rebounding ability.... I think it's premature and 12.5 is a bargain for at least three years.... so the two following would still be worth the investment. Just an opinion... experience has a way of making up for lost athleticism with a lot of players.

I think Korver knows better than to take a few million extra to play for a shit team where he wont get nearly as many looks on offence because they have no penetrating guards to get him open on a consistent basis. I dont see him signing in MIL.

That is one place I wouldn't want to play if I were an NBA player, there and Charlotte.

He might turn it down, but it will be a tough decision.

Korver is 32. This could be his last contract worth more than the vet min. His career earnings are $38 mill. I believe Brooklyn is offering 3 years for $9 million. So Milwaukee's total deal is worth $11 million more, which is over 30% of his current career earnings.

This move makes me wonder if the Thunder have enough cap space to now pursue JR Smith? He could be a good 6th man fit there. They really need Lamb and Jones III to start developing quicker tho

OKC doesn't have any cap space. The Thunder let Martin go in order to avoid the tax. Since OKC is currently under the tax, they can offer a player the Non-Taxpayer MLE worth $5.15 mill to start. That's the best they can give a free agent.

We haven't heard much about JR Smith. I wonder if anybody is even pursuing him, or if New York will just re-sign him. The Knicks are going to have a huge tax bill when they complete their roster.

ok thanks,i believe they have the option to amnesty
'Perkins" contract,if it makes any difference they might have a decision to make. I think teams fear giving JR a contract beyond 2 years in length because he's unpredictable. He might have to wait a bit. The Knicks are in limbo with the money tied up to their frontcourt core,i don't what they'll do.

OKC's payroll is in that area over the cap but below the luxury tax. They have roughly $65 million in guaranteed contracts. So, even if the Thunder amnesty Perkins and his $9 mill salary, that will only take the payroll down to $56 mill. The cap is $58 mill. The MLE is worth more than that cap space. So, again, unless they trade other players, the Thunder's best option for obtaining a free agent is to use the Non-Taxpayer MLE worth about $5 mill.

If they ever use the amnesty on Perkins, I suspect they'd do it to avoid the tax. Because if OKC picks up a couple of their team options on bench players, and then uses the full MLE, that will push them a little into the tax. So ditching Perkins would be more a cost cutting measure, not a way to get cap space.

Thanks for the explanation Bill,

I'm surprised all is quiet on the Millsap front, maybe I missed something but I haven't heard any rumors surrounding his name yet.
