We'd have to get under the cap to trade for him since they don't want a contract in return.

We should find a way to sign Dejuan Blair and Kyle Korver. Blair has shown he can play and would be excellent big coming off the bench and Korver would fill one of our biggest holes.

Get er' Done Masai!

The Raptors have no cap space or trade exception. The only non guaranteed contract they have is Lowry, and the Raptors probably aren't going to give Lowry for Robinson.

So a 3rd team with cap space would be needed. Very unlikely.

Blazers Acquire Thomas Robinson In Deal With Rockets - RealGM Wiretap

Quote:
The Portland Trail Blazers have acquired Thomas Robinson in a trade with the Houston Rockets.

The Rockets have been trying to deal Robinson to clear cap space.

The Blazers will send two future second round picks and the draft rights to Kostas Papanikolau and Marko Todorovic for Robinson.

The deal will be consummated on July 10, but agreed in principle now in order to give the Rockets sufficient cap space to offer Dwight Howard a max contract.

I'm surprised no one was offering a future first for Robinson. If we had amnestied Kleiza and used the strech provision on Fields, couldn't we have absorbed his contract and sent back NY/DEN's 2016 First Rounder?

The Houston Rockets are prepared to discuss Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin in trade talks, according to sources.

The Rockets are confident of their chances of signing Howard and are making contingency plans on how to build around him.

"They already have him, if you talk to them," one league source said.

The Philadelphia 76ers could be a destination for Asik.

Lin was not invited to the Rockets' meeting with Howard.

Why would the 76ers want Asik when they are building a tank and have Nerlens Noel?

He's only 26, and Noel is too skinny to be a full time center anyways.

No, we can't absorb Robinson.

The Bargnani trade, using the stretch provision of Fields, and using the amnesty on Kleiza, still wouldn't bring us below the cap. Before today, we were $13 mill above the cap and almost at the tax line. You're not the first to start asking about doing things with cap space. You need to understand that these moves for savings are just making it possible to avoid a tax if we use the $5 mill MLE and re-sign guys like Telfair. They are not big enough savings to do anything cool.

Personally, I think a team(s) might step forward with serious offers that get leaked after July 1st. Houston may already have offers, but since teams know that the Rockets need to get rid of him in order to create space for Howard, the GMs might be lowballing Morley to a point where nothing gets done.

Well he can't play at PF next to Asik either, offensively it's a horrific fit. So they are going to play their future center 12-15 minutes a night while tanking?

Anyway, they won't even finish their rebuilding by the time Asik expires. They could just sign him as free agent in a couple of years if they really want him.

Nah, that rumor doesn't sound legit.

It's done btw. Portland got Robinson for 2 2nd round picks and two stash Euro projects.
