http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/228471/Speights-Declines-$4515M-Player-Option-With-Cavs-To-Become-Free-Agent

Quote:
Marreese Speights has declined his player option for the 13-14 NBA season with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Speights will become an unrestricted free agent.

Speights was due $4.515 million with the Cavaliers.

We should be interested in him.

Mavericks Interested In Rondo Trade - RealGM Wiretap

Quote:
The Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics have discussed a trade involving Rajon Rondo, according to a report from Mike Fisher of DallasBasketball.com.

The Celtics would like to acquire Shane Larkin in a deal with the Mavericks.

The Mavericks are pursuing Dwight Howard via free agency and would have difficulty in acquiring Rondo while preserving sufficient cap space.

There's no way the Celtics don't get a good return back for Rondo. That package is horse shit.

What package? The only player mentioned is Larkin, obviously there would be more.

Celtics know how to rebuild. Personally I think they hosed Brooklyn in that deal. So many unprotected picks. They will be in the running for wiggins next year. I just hope he doesn't end up playing for a division rival.

unprotected? You expect Brooklyn to be in the lottery any time soon?

I don't expect but... it could happen.

All it takes is D-Will or Lopez to get injured in 2015-16, and that 2016 pick could be pretty good. By that time Johnson/KG/Pierce will be gone or done. And I doubt Brooklyn is going to find replacements easily. Most of their picks are gone now. I guess they could trade some expiring for a bad contract, for the next Bargnani. But that's not a game changer.
So I think they are a 45-50 wins team in 2015-16 at best, and with some injuries they could be out of the playoffs.

And in 2018 D-Will will be 34. Who knows what happens.

The package rumored was Larkin, Marion, fodder(players that wont be on Boston for more than a year), and a 1st round pick that will be in the 20's.

You cant come up with a trade from the Mavs that is realistic from Rondo. You can say 'there would be more' but it doesnt mean anything because they have almost no assets outside of Dirk, and Mayo, but he's an RFA. The rest of their roster right now is spare parts, obviously because they're going to try to be big players this offseason.

I think Batman on that other thread had a link that said that the raps trade talks with LAC may lead to Bargs for Butler as LAC might look to include EB in a bigger deal. I think Bargs for Butler is even better as DD can be kept and/or used in another deal.

The Detroit Pistons have decided not to waive Rodney Stuckey.

The Pistons could have saved $4.5 million had they waived Stuckey.

Stuckey will earn $8.5 million next season.

I wouldn't mind trying to get T Rob if we could, he is only in his 2nd year and he was a high lottery pick. I don't think we can make any type of deal work though
