Al Jefferson Out With Torn ACL

I still think that Raps will lose this one but maybe now only by 10 points or so...

Quote:
The Minnesota Timberwolves star center Al Jefferson is out indefinitely with a torn ACL in his right knee.

The team said that an MRI performed Monday morning discovered the extent of the damage done to the knee a night before when Jefferson landed awkwardly late in the game against New Orleans.

A date for surgery on the anterior cruciate ligament has not been set.

Jefferson is the team's leading scorer and rebounder at 23.1 points and 11 rebounds per game.

"This is an unfortunate situation for Al and we wish him a quick recovery," said Timberwolves head coach Kevin McHale in a prepared statement.

He continued, "Knowing Al, he will work hard in his rehab efforts to get back on the court as soon as possible. In the interim, I'm confident that the other players on our roster will step up and meet this challenge."

The Timberwolves (17-33) host Toronto on Tuesday.

Too bad for Big Al. Didn't he have serious ankle problems a few years back?

Kevin Love's going to pick up the slack.

Wow... that sucks big time.

This could actually be great in the long run for Minny though.... imagine if they get themselves a Top 3 pick to add to Love & Al?

They could be another POR with some tweaks.

Raptors get cocky? When did they get cocky? Am I missing something here?

Anyways, sad day for the t'Wolves - hopefully Jefferson can rebound nicely from this. Looks like another lottery selection - maybe a point guard this time and move Foye to the 2.

Shitty for the Wolves. They were promising before. The only positive is that they will get a really good, long, hard look at Kevin Love and we'll all see if trading him for Mayo was rational or not.

Big men take a bit more time to develop. I have no doubts that Kevin Love will be a solid compliment to Al Jefferson.

Hansborough isn't the same player. His game is more suited for college.

well, time will tell, imo he has scrub written all over him, his advantage in strength he had in college will never be there in the NBA, he isnt the greatest shooter, he isnt that tall and doesnt have that many post moves and is slow, i think he has a resume to be a scrub.

Right. That's why he went top-5.. because he's a scrub.

I don't think YOU ever watched any of his games last year at UCLA. What you're doing is basing his game on his athleticism. He's not the most athetic dude - no one said he would be the first guy down the court. But what he lacks in athleticism, he makes up for it with his strength, Basketball IQ and he's a good passer he's got a very good midrange game. What big man comes into the league right away and performs well? It rarely happens.

ok, well ill bump this in a couple years :P he isnt really a big, he is a tweener, not strong enough to grind, not fast enough to finesse, these type of players are rarely good starters, they can be useful role players off the bench tho.

You can bump it in a few years, that's cool. I haven't seen many T-WOlves games this year, but basing on what I saw from him at UCLA last year, he should be just fine.
