Sixers considering breaking ties with A.I.

Allen Iverson(notes) will not be with the Philadelphia 76ers on their current West Coast road trip and could have played his last game for the team. League sources told Yahoo! Sports there’s a strong movement within the organization to permanently break ties with him.

Iverson is with his family to deal with medical issues concerning his daughter, but his constant in-and-out of the lineup this season has led team officials to believe a permanent break is best for the organization. Sources said Iverson went to team officials over the weekend and said he needed to leave again.

Sources say Sixers coach Eddie Jordan addressed the players on Sunday, and told them there’s a chance Iverson may not return to the team. Sixers ownership, general manager Ed Stefanski and Jordan haven’t sat down and formally come to that decision, but sources with knowledge of the Sixers’ plans believe the franchise is leaning in that direction.

If his daughter is really as ill as they are reporting it would be really classless of the 76ers to cut him.

Lakers sign Iverson for vet minimum. Guarantee it.

LJkAze 02-22-2010 11:41 PM

Let's sign A.I. for minimum and get rid of PoB ^_^; he can come and go at anytime he wants as long as he preforms when we need him or when he want's to play then I don't mind.

Um...no.

Beesh 02-23-2010 12:56 AM

ye if Philly lets him go, its possible some contending team will sign him, but he'll have to come off the bench most likely.
Then again, AI also said he wants to finish his career here, so this could end of the road

babyface 02-23-2010 01:42 AM

oh great.. now the Cavs will have AI too

Sixers is a crap organization, this is the way they handle one of their greatest players,

the guy has family problems, and its a health issue

they let Andre Miller just walk for nothing, this team is being run by a bunch of selfish young players, no wonder Brand can't get his game off with this team

+1

kia4ever 02-23-2010 07:36 AM

he makes less than PoB why are they stressing out? They've already made more than that on jersey sales

fancylad 02-23-2010 07:55 AM

It would look really bad on the 76ers if this is how they handle themselves. As much of a twat as Iverson has been in the past, it would be a real douche thing for the team to do to dump him in a time like this.

Stonezz 02-23-2010 12:45 PM

They should at least let him finish the season in Philly, it's not like the Sixers are doing much
