Thank the fuck Christ. These last few weeks have been a travesty. Absolutely no flow to the games at all, even moreso this preseason then most. And that's saying something.

Meh, The lesser of 2 evils...The replacment refs. have been really bad, but the gap between the regular refs and the replacement refs. isn't by a large gap.

In a perfect world theyd take a lot of the YOUNG replacement refs and make them 3rd refs on the crew, and then next season let go a lot of the dead weight and senile guys.

But yeah its much better having the normal refs around to get some flow in the games. The replacement guys are trying to impress their bosses and in turn making every game a summer league game

Source: NBA referees approve two-year labor agreement - ESPN

Quote:
It's a done deal: The regular NBA refs will be back for the start of the regular season.

A nearly monthlong lockout of the league's 57 referees effectively ended Friday night when the referees, according to a league source, approve the collective bargaining deal that was agreed to in principle Tuesday on a voice vote.

Approval was expected after commissioner David Stern and referees' lead negotiator Lamell McMorris, both of whom had previously withdrawn from the talks, re-entered the negotiations and brokered the final settlement in a meeting at the NBA's New York headquarters.

The referees will conduct a brief training camp in New jersey this weekend before receiving their assignments for the start of the regular season, which begins Tuesday night with four games.

This is a great thing.

We'll once again get to see Dick Bavetta sarcastically nod as a player complains to deaf ears.

Dick Bavetta is such a good ref, that he officiates the game completely on player reaction. It's like a poker player playing without looking at his cards. Dick doesn't have to see the actualy play to make a call, he just has to see how people react on the court.
