Default 9 teams, 8 spots... Who gets left out?

There are 15 teams in the Western Conference, and 9 of them have the chance to make the playoffs, 6 of them have little to no chance at all. Memphis has the next best record, but it already 7 games behind the pace. A 3 game losing streak could have almost any team on the outside, looking in.

So, the question is: who's the odd team out?

The west still showing that it's the top dog of conferences - and yeah clearly one team that deserves to make the playoffs won't be there.

Initially i thought it was going to be phoenix before the richardson trade. Don't think that's so much the case now.

It'll probably be portland again.

Blazers or suns are my picks.

I dont think Dallas is gonna make it anymore, if Dirk goes down for any amount of time that team is toast.

I agree with Fancy,
unfortunately i think it'll be portland.... (but my gut also tells me Houston).

IMO, Portland wont have the juice by the end of the year and will lose out by a game or two.
i just feel that they dont believe in themselves just yet. they dont show that they truly understand how good they are or what they're capable of.
they will get so close, but miss out - and this heartbreak will be the catalyst for next season - when i believe, they will make their move into the upper echelon.

I think this is the year Dallas falls out and Portland starts to uprise. Portland has a lot of confidence this year and young legs that'll get 'em to the finish line in the playoff picture

Suns, Blazers, or Nuggets

I'll go with Suns. Who's playing defence on that team

Hollinger projects Dallas to miss.

I think it will depend on injuries. If Utah stays hurt they may miss out.

Nene has been surprisingly healthy, if he gets hurt Denver could struggle.

At start of year I would have guessed Portland, but they have made it through tough opening schedule, Roy has been great, and Ghost Face has been solid.

I will guess Dallas since they are in the toughest division.

Yeah, I know it's early, but it is going to be a situation like last year, where one team that SHOULD make it, won't, and there'll be a team or two in he East that will probably make it while being below .500.

I think it's going to come down to injuries. Which is unfortunate.

I think that Utah, even though very talented and well coached, could have injury problems, and the Boozer situation might distract the team, although they still SHOULD make it.

Portland is still young, and may collapse a bit down the stretch like they did last year.

Dallas and Phoenix are the teams that are one or two injuries away from having too big of a deficit to make up (and are the biggest worry due to their stars aging).

It's definitely going to be fun to watch the standings for the rest of the year.

Portland will make it. Theyre one of the deepest teams in the league and theyve already gone through their toughest stretch.

I think itll be either DEN or DAL. Everyone is so impressed with DEN, but they still have the most injury plagued frontcourt in the league. Its gonna happen eventually where they get an inijury then Chris Anderson is going to be starting and we'll all laugh. That and if you really look at their wins, theyve only had 4-5 QUALITY wins vs good healthy teams. Once it gets closer to playoff time I see their depth being an issue and I dont think theyre better overall than Dallas even though theyve beat em twice already. Dirk makes DAL a better team then DEN and a threat to beat any team on any night. There are a few teams in the West that wouldnt want to play DAL at all in the first round, are there any for the Nuggets? .

Either the Suns or the Mavs aren't going to make it.
