Lol, u beat me to the news by 3 minutes. I think Sam Mitchell would be better though, since he would bring discipline to a team that needs it.

I don't remember him being a sensational coach, but I really like his work as an analyst and I'll miss that

Yeah, I'll miss hearing the guy too. I honestly think him and Hubie Brown are the most knowledeable from TNT and most respected.

Because of this hire, I dont know how credible the #2 pick available to whoever wants to take Brand off Phillys hands...

I mean, Would Collins really sign on to coach this team knowing the 2nd overall pick is being traded away and there in complete rebuild mode without a turner/wall?

You're asking a fair question, but there is another angle. See, if they dump Brand for expirings, the 76ers will have enormous cap space in 2011-2012 (assuming the league isn't on strike). And in addition to the enormous cap space, they'll have team options on a couple of talented players on rookie contracts, and the ability to match any offer made to Thadeus Young. So they have assets. Depending on who is available via trade or free agency in 2011, the rebuild might only take 1 season.

Iggy
Williams
Speights
Holliday

Cost = < $ 25 mill

Ability to match on Thadeus Young, which could cost maybe $6 to 8 mill.

That's a lot of cap space to play with in 2011-2012, assuming they ditch Brand.

Oh, and they might get another late lotto back in the Turner/Brand trade.

I think Collins is just happy to have a coaching job.

I've always liked Collins, hopefully he can do a decent job in Philly.

Think Collins is a fill in for a year or two.
Wish him luck but unlikely anyone will take Brand even with a number 2.
Collins is the coach not the GM he will never have final say in trades input only.
