He's great if you use him correctly. Miami has Wade and LeBron to focus on, Bosh is like a side project.

Yes. I've been bitching about him for 3 years. However, when he does try and is in attack mode he's pretty good at drawing fouls. But of course he's taking jump shots 90% of the time.

in all fairness, I haven't watched last night's game - I just assumed Bosh, being a PF, was the primary defender on Aldridge, who's also a PF (silly assumption, I know). However, I find it fascinating how you manage (in the same sentence almost) to claim that while he wasn't the primary defender, he was still able to slow Aldridge down ... I guess Bosh defended him on his misses, and dampier on his makes

The questions that pops to mind though is why wasn't Bosh the primary defender on Aldridge ...

i saw aldridge school Bosh on a turn-around with a minute and 20 seconds left.

i only watched the fourth, but from what i saw Bosh was d'ing up gerald wallace, and actually played decent defense on him.

I'd say Wallace was playing better defense on Bosh....

Nice comprehension skills as usual. I think my post is pretty clear on it's own. And yes - I saw Aldridge school Bosh at the end as thought mentioned. I won't even bother re-hashing Bargnani's terrible defense against Portland last season. It's just not worth it. But I do remember it well. I saw the game and didn't just look at the boxscore.

I've never really been a Bosh fan, but when he was here he used to average 8+ FTA/game season after season after season. Because of that he was pretty effective. This season I think he's at like 5 per game, settling for jumpers all night long. If he's doing that he's not worth his salary.

bargnani was bad that game, there's no question about that
the point was that Bosh was equally bad, and he was the primary defender on aldridge that game (which I saw - I watch all of our games, not so much Miami's ...). And he got abused by aldridge, just like he always gets abused by any physical PF.

Bosh hates to bang down low (his own words) which is why he's soft and he'll always be so, whether he's paired with Bargnani or with dampier. And don't bother to argue that bargnani's even softer - that's probably true, but irrelevant nevertheless.

Spoelstra seems safe

Quote:

Riley Publicly Backs Spoelstra

Pat Riley was at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday to scout the Big East Tournament.

Riley briefly agreed to talk at halftime of the Connecticut-Georgetown game. Riley was asked what is currently wrong with the Heat.

“Hey, look, tough times are good times for me. But don’t make me go there today. You know what’s going to happen if I do that? In New York, if I didn’t create a crisis with the Knicks, the crisis was created for us. In Miami, it needs me to help it along just by opening my mouth.”

Riley was also asked about Erik Spoelstra's job security.

“Write it off. Write it off. It’s the media being neurotic. It’s their need to make a story, create a story, and make that story come true. And that ain’t going to happen. Write it off. We’re just in a tough time right now, we’ll get through it.”

Riley expects Miami to figure out to score late in games.

“I know they’ll get it. But everyone has to overreact to things right now. We’re going through some tough times and we will get through it. It’s like anything else, like I always say, the playoffs will tell. Everything else now is just rhetoric. And we’re getting ready for that time. And I don’t really care what position we play from.”

My point then was that Bosh was the guy guarding more than his man, while Bargnani stood and watched in no-man's land. So is it really a surprise that Aldridge took advantage of that? It was not about Aldridge being physical at all. I can clearly remember Bosh providing help and changing shots while Bargnani failed to rotate and Aldridge got easy second-chance points.

And to say that Bosh always gets abused by any physical PF is hilarious hyperbole.

They look like a very different team this week. If they close out this game against the Spurs and keep sticking to the details they'll be in pretty good shape. Chalmers is looking quite competent lately, and looks like he's truly integrated into the system. If they can do the same with Miller they'll be poised for some big things.
