Yeah, "considerable drop off" was harsh. But losing out on a top 3 selection and one of those aforementioned "gems" was promoted as a kick in the nads, IIRC. Bosh was a smooth but fragile freshman, Wade hadn't developed much of a jumper despite being a junior, which was ancient during a time where scouts had major hard-ons for High schoolers and international projects. I think Kaman's stock rose late, playing at a small school, and Ford was a midget before the little man, other than Iverson, ruled the league. But yes, I was young and didn't follow as fervently. Point being, while this class is seemingly historically weak, even great classes had their fair share of question marks.

A lot of people are saying Williams or Irving, or else it's a kick in the nuts, so I guess I can appreciate the point you're trying to make. I didn't watch a lot of college basketball this year, but I saw Walker and Knight play 5+ games. I have mixed feelings about both. I could see how they might end up being "question mark" players who develop into very respectable pros, especially Knight. I'd still rather avoid the shot to the nads!
