Who should we draft? (assuming we keep the pick)

I know it is still too early and lot of things will change. But what players realistically would we be looking at? Do we draft best available talent, or position in need?

Here are some that seems to be good prospects around our range (if we make the PO)

Dario Saric, a 19-year-old small forward out of Croatia, is currently in the draft, but could withdraw depending on whether he receives a promise.

Draft Express currently projects Saric being selected at No. 23.

"Dario Saric. He's not staying in the draft if he's not a lottery pick. So if he stays, someone promised him in the lottery."
interesting prospect not because he has the same name as me, but since hes european and has game, idk. lottery promise? meh

Rudy Gobert is an interesting prospect. A legit 7 feet, athletic, and has a 7' 9'' wingspan! :jack:

He's meh. If he doesn't fill out, he'll be pushed out and bullied far too often. He needs about 3-5 years before he fulfills any potential and even then I see him as a key piece off the bench. Too me, he's a player better suited to play in Europe than in the US. In any other year he'd be a late first round pick.

Claud, I don't watch any euro ball, in your opinion what makes a guy more suited to Euro ball than the NBA?

Honestly, the speed and react time is the biggest factor for me.

The NBA is obviously that much faster paced, defensives react quicker for instance. Euro does most of the similar things that you see in the NBA, but it happens at a notch slower, hence why a lot of players in Europe can read situations quite well because they have the time to process it. Now, when I say this, it's not like it takes ten seconds or something like that, but that extra second gives you reactionary time.

Why do some excel then from Europe to the NBA? Talent and the ability to react quicker and exploit faster.

Does that make sense?

So, this is where I see Saric in my opinion. Now granted, I haven't watched him play in several months, but when I last saw him, he's still so raw but I just don't see him being able to read the play fast enough to use his ability. He's got an offensive gift, but he'll think about it instead of reacting. Maybe this is something he learns as he gets older (hence my 3 - 5 year projection).

Understandable, he has to build his game around guyslike Kirlenko, does all the small things and plays defence well.
