Pretty similar players in college. Both could do it all for their teams and had the balls in their hand a lot for their teams. Turner was a lot better setting his team up though.

I only got to watch a few of Burks games but he was very impressive when I did.

The dude is quick, needs to work on his jumper a little bit, can get to the hoop, the dude is a scorer and a very good one with that said.

Somebody is going to get a very good prospect probably around pick 7-10 I would guess. Crawford is not a bad example if Burks can improve his range and jumper. He can get open, very fast, and if he improves his jump shot he will be a very good scorer for some team. Which with the right work and practice can be done. That is the biggest thing for Burks. If he can improve his jump shot he will be a good player.

One scout said that Burks had trouble with players with "elite athlecism" He'll be facing those players every game in the NBA. Also, one executive questioned Burk's workout dedication. After two years in college, he has the same body in year one. However, the biggest red flag I read is his defensive effort:

"He has to stop ignoring the defensive end of the floor. "There's no pride in doing it yet," says a Northwest Division executive.

"He has no interest," the first Northwest scout said of Burks. "He won't go under, through, or behind (screens)...Something tells me (the work ethic) is not off the charts because he hasn't worked on his body at all. But the holes in his game are fixable."
Yeah Turner needs to work on his range also. Seems like that is both of their problems. Turner mid range jumper was not that bad in college but his 3 point shot in college(which is shorter then college) was not. So he really needed to expand more.

Turner also had to learn how to play without the ball in his hands which he is still learning. At Ohio State he had the ball in his hands every play down the court. Now with Philly he is playing almost every play with the ball NOT in his hands.

don't know about you guys but I see Brandon Knight moving up to 3rd or 4th in the draft

e, not explosive like Wall, but plays smart, good defense, and a 3 point shot, plus hits clutch shots for Kentucky

my big board goes like this

Derrick Williams
Irving
Knight
Kanter

Terrence Jones for Kentucky takes his name out of the draft and is returning to Kentucky according to ESPN.

He wasn't a guaranteed top pick.. he will be a bench player at best in the NBA.

FWIW Chad Ford had Terrence Jones as the #9 best prospect in the draft I believe. So there was a chance.

Kentucky did hold a draft combine where they showcased Brandon Knight, Terrence Jones and DeAndre Liggins to NBA personnel representing more than 20 NBA teams. Jones probably got some recommendations to go back to school. My only concern is Enes Kanter did not participate in any of the workouts.

Lottery is Tuesday, but when is Rookie combine? When will we know measurements and athleticism of players?

To answer my own question: May 18-22
http://www.draftexpress.com/article/...ants-List-3700

Quite a few internationals not attending: Valanciunas, Vesely, Byombo, Mirotic, Montiejunas

Here's DX's prospect comparison best case/worst cases for their top 16:
(i think they are pretty much spot on)

Kyrie Irving: Deron Williams / Rich Man's Eric Maynor
Derrick Williams: Michael Beasley with perfect intangibles / more athletic Antawn Jamison
Brandon Knight: Prime Chauncey Billups / Lou Williams
Jonas Valanciunas: Andris Biedrins meets Joakim Noah / Omer Asik
Kemba Walker: Ty Lawson / Aaron Brooks
Jan Vesely: Andrei Kirilenko / Joe Alexander
Bismack Biyombo: Ben Wallace / Taj Gibson
Enes Kanter: Kevin Love/ Aaron Gray
Donatas Motiejunas: Pau Gasol / Yi Jianlian
Marcus Morris: David West meets Al Harrington / More Athletic Anthony Tolliver
Kawhi Leonard: Shawn Marion / Luc Richard Mbah a Moute
Alec Burks: Brandon Roy / Marquis Daniels
Markieff Morris: Rasheed Wallace (without the crazy) / Stronger Ersan Ilyasova
Tobias Harris: Shane Battier with more offense / Ryan Gomes
Klay Thompson: Mike Miller in prime / Marco Belinelli
Tristan Thompson: Tyrus Thomas with better intangibles / shorter Jordan Hill

Good comparisons, few flaws I think.

Quote:
Kemba Walker: Ty Lawson / Aaron Brooks
So Ty is best case scenario and Aaron is worst case scenario? It's debatable Who is even better, Ty or Aaron... Well, ok... Kemba looks like he least risky prospect...

Quote:
Bismack Biyombo: Ben Wallace / Taj Gibson
How come Taj Gibson is worst case scenario? We talking about Bismack Biymbo here... Worst case scenario is way worse than Taj Gibson. P.S. The same about Donatas, worst case scenario is worse than Jianlian.

Most accurate one is Jan Vesely's comparison. xactly what I would say. More athletic and taller Kirilenko or Joe Alexander.

was this from a site or just a causal fan? i think the worst case scenario for a bunch of them are on the bench for 38 minutes a game or in europe, not legit role players. i could easily see someone like burks turning out to be julius hodge before i could see him like roy or daniels. bismack, gibson or wallace? more like turaif or sene.

Michael Beasley with perfect intangibles / more athletic Antawn Jamison ???

i think the normal antawn jamison in his prime is better than beasley.....let alone a more athletic jamison?

I'd rather have someone compared to Chauncey in his prime then Brooks/Lawson.

i don't think skipping the combine is going to hurt him. he's all but guaranteed to go top two in the draft. if anything, it only really helps/hurts lottery/1st round bubble players showcasing their athleticism and clearing up rumoured heights.

i'm interested to find out kemba's height. i've seen him rumoured anywhere from 5'9" to 6'1".
