Yeah, a fan threw out a trade involving Derozan. That's not anything rumoured. Then Ingram went onto say we're the frontrunners but he didn't put out any specifics.

I like Knight but I see Walker higher with the intangibles he brings to the table. Of course, this barring any trades.
I think you might mean Varejao

i could see a deal involving davis and filler for the 2 being discussed, especially if bc beleives that Bargs could play the pf spot.

davis, barbosa

for

flynn, webster, #2

jose/bayless/flynn
demar/webster
williams/jj
bargs/amir/dorsey?
biymbo?/fa/alabi

still have jose to move and some capspace for a center

Davis has loads of potential, I'm not sure why B.C. would make that trade.

If anything, i could see him giving up Bargnani to get the #2, and maybe even make a play for Rubio.

Bargnani for the #2 I would do in a heartbeat. Take Biyumbo with the 5th pick and we've got a good lineup moving forward.

Bayless/Jose
DD/Barbosa
Williams/JJ
Davis/Amir
Biyumbo/Dorsey

Not much offense on that team, but a lot of defense, which is a good thing.

EDIT: By the way, do you guys still think we're "too Euro"?

depends on if he is in love with Bargs as much as everyone thinks.

Or how highly he feels for Williams.

And I cant see Love and Bargs working out well as a front court pairing in minny.

Another possibility i suppose is to use the tpe to take on some contracts from Minny and maybe send them Barbosa for a good vet presence who can still perform and will be an expiring.

Maybe something like:

Barbosa for Pekovic and Flynn

TPE for Webster and the 2.

Converts Flyn and Pek to and expiring vet with some scoring ability, straight cap releif for the 2 and webster saving about 7 million in capspace. Minny is left with:

Rubio/Ridnour
Barbosa/Ellington
Beasley/Johnson
Love/Randolph
Darko/Tolliver

With some decent capspace(10 million if cap doesnt change)

Toronto pretty much loses all capspace available but is left with

Jose/Bayless/Flynn
Demar/JJ/Bayless
Williams/Webster/JJ
Davis/Amir/Kleiza
Bargs/Biyombo/Pekovic/Alabi(DLeague)

With a new cap will probably be able to drop a contract like Kleiza or Jose with an amnesty clause.

Minny's highest paid player is Beasley and he only makes $5 million. They probably aren't looking to reduce their payroll. Also, because Minny doesn't have a trade exception they can't absorb substantial salary back in a trade. In other words, the salaries are going to have to be close or no deal can be made.

They'll probably be interested in Davis, DeRozan, maybe even Amir, Bayless or JJ. The trade machine says that Bargs' salary only counts as $4.5 million for trading purposes until July 1, so he'll be tradeable too.

To get the 2 without losing the 5 Minny'll take one of Bargs, Davis or DeRozan for scrubs.

TPE for Webster and the 2? Really? You think that no other teams are offering better than, um, nothing?

Even if there is a trade I don't think that it will be announced until after Cleveland picks. Trading for the #2 and Flynn makes sense for the Raptors if Derrick Williams is still on the board, and trading for the #2 and Webster makes sense if Kyrie Irving is still on the board.

Probably true.

Um, but they are so far under the salary cap that they should be allowed to take back extra salary above the 125%.

Hmm...seems odd.

Sounds right, in my opinion.

ESPN Trade Machine says no. I don't know how accurate it is.

I double checked all my previous statements with the trade machine before posting. The potential deals I listed seem the most realistic.

The trade checkers are still running on the 10/11 season....we haven't officially switched over to the 11/12 season yet.

I don't think that happens until after the CBA expires, after which no deals can be made.

The deal needs to be made with 10/11 salaries still on the books (Reggie, Peja, etc.)

I double checked and Minny can take back about $3.7 million more than they give up. So, Bargs for Webster ($4.8) works but Bargs for Darko ($4.325) doesn't.

Bargs is worth $4.25 million in a trade, but his salary still counts as $8.5 million towards Minny's cap.

$8.5 - $4.8 = $3.7 so the Webster trade is pretty much right on the money.

$8.5 - $4.325 = $4.175 so the Darko trade fails because it puts Minny over the cap.

I forgot Eddy Curry's salary likely doesn't come off the books until July 1. It's the difference between Minnesota's payroll being $53 mill and $42 million. That $11 million is the difference between Minnesota being able to absorb a salary like Bargnani's versus having to workout a deal that conforms with the 125% trade exception rule that dictates trades that put teams over the cap.

The possibility of a new CBA really puts snags in any plans to work out the details of hypothetical trades during the draft. Teams can't know for sure how much cap space they will have, and what new trade regulations might exist, once July rolls around.

I think Bargs + someone else(Barbs) is enough for #2 and fillers.

So 18Mil in salary for a draft pick and a couple of scrubs? Is that even possible?

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I don't think they could match salaries..Just Bargs and anyone else decent should do it.
