Then the amount of posters who wanted Telfair back next year tripled after his 1 breakout performance vs PHX.

The thought process with some posters here is just mindblowing.
Same goes for Rudy Gay. Different situation, but when we got him people were excited, finally a closer. Now.......look around on line and people consider him a negative asset and say they want him gone. This fanbase is neurotic on a good day.

Gay is by far our best player, and I don't want him gone but if right deal comes along no one is untouchable, well maybe except JV

I don't remember Gay being considered a "negative asset" at any point on this board. Bargnani, sure, I think many people here would give him away for free -- just cap space.

Gay is an asset. And like all assets in any business, he can be traded for the right price.

When you watch mediocrity for almost 20 years, negativity will come. If they don't want negativity from the fans, put a better product on the court.

Well said. But is it negativity or just being realistic? Some posters on here get ridiculously mad when another poster will mention the team's horrid cap situation and the relatively low ceiling of the team as is.

I think most people like Rudy as a player, but his contract is just awful. With his deal, if we were to trade him, we'd either have to get extremely lucky where a team with cap space missed out on the CP/DH sweepstakes and wanted to get a big name, where they offered us the TPE+a 1st, or we'd have to trade for 1-2 equally bad contracts with equal or more years left.

You just cant have guys like Rudy making max money and to be your first option and expect to go anywhere. If he was on a 10-12 million dollar deal, no one would complain. Unfortunately that's the cost of doing business in terms of keeping your top guys around after their 1st and 2nd contracts are over. Hopefully that changes now with the new cap system in place, where now fringe players shouldnt be getting crazy contracts, and non max guys seeking the max(Jennings/Smith) will be brought back to earth and have to sign for 8-11 million. In Jennings case, he shouldnt make a dime over 7 million, and I'd never want my team even handing him that. He's a negative value player.

Shabazz Muhammad only had 27 assists in his entire freshmen season at UCLA (in 32 games).................

He's a great fit for the Wolves and Rick Adelman. Rick Adelman prefers to play only good passers.

I completely agree, but sometimes it really is just pure negativity. Some people might not like his contract, but Rudy gay is at least a good player in this league. He is top 10 at his position. That said, I still think he should be traded because he doesn't elevate this team to a level where it can be a contender (or even just have home court in the playoffs) and his contract is so big it prevents us from getting such players.

Thanks. Sometimes it may be. Yes RG is a top 10 SF however the contract isn't optimal. Honestly many of the contracts on this team are really screwing the team over.
