comparing him to Hakeem at this point - and there has been a lot of that - is just the kind of overhyping that would worry me.

Depending on the pick would not be opposed to him and JV. Maybe a 2nd chance at JV and Drummond.

Indeed. Comparisons like that are a little much. He can still be a very productive NBA C though.

Such a good passer

He should stay 2-3 years in College and then he would go number 1.

how many guys stay in college for that long and go number 1 though? scouts find more holes in players games the longer they stay in college.

I've been impressed by Embiid this year. Not only has he gotten better in each game...it's almost as though he's improving each possession.

10gizzle 12-18-2013 09:09 AM

He looks like he has that special something.

Hopefully he keeps improving.

So much upside it's not even funny. The guy moves like a guard, so fluid.

LOG 12-19-2013 12:38 PM

I can see him going top 3

I think the only thing stopping Joel from being the 1st pick is past history with Bowie/MJ and Oden/Durant. No GM wants to make that mistake again especially in a loaded draft with multiple potential allstar prospects. He has all of the tools to become the next great center in the NBA, but how fast will he be able to pick up the NBA game and fast pace? And how much will he improve in terms of his toughness overall on both sides of the ball to avoid getting pushed around and beaten inside?

Also, does he have any previous injuries? That could be the other thing that holds him back from being the 1st pick, or a top 3 pick.

That's true... but Drummond will probably weigh heavily on a lot of GMs mind. No one wants to pass on another potential monster big like that.

That drop step tho...

JoeyJoJo Shabbadu 01-05-2014 01:18 AM

He's top of the tops on nbadraft.net now.

Embiid dominated tonight. Looking more and more like he'll be #1 this year.

DuCa00795 01-14-2014 11:16 AM

Wiggins also dominated last night. The kid had 19 rebounds, some pretty tough ones in the lane as well. I believe GM's are becoming more and more nervous taking a big man with the top pick. In the recent past, big men with the top pick either seem to get injured, or are brutal (Olwakandi, Brown, Oden, Possibly Bennett) It's really hard to measure what they will become.

TORaptor4Ever 01-14-2014 04:06 PM

I think a lot of it (who goes #1) will depend on what team gets the top pick.

If it's the Bucks I could see them passing on Embiid since they already have Sanders and Henson.
