Jimmer get promise from Jazz

Jimmer At #12? This one may not come as much of a shock, but Jimmer Fredette is believed to have received a commitment from the Utah Jazz at #12 and has started shutting down workouts. Fredette has been in to see the Knicks, the Pacers, the Suns and the Kings all of which raved about his performance. After a stellar workout, the kid from Provo seems to have heard what he wanted to hear to pull out of a planned Houston workout tomorrow and may be finished barring a last minute push from teams in the top ten.

It is easy to get caught up in the concept of a "promise" but in this case there could be a lot of substance to the rumor, mainly because Jimmer is a huge fan favorite. He solves a real and pressing need in Utah and he could become a big part of Utah's future.

So it seems if another team wants Jimmer, they may now have to get on the phone to Golden State and see what the #11 is going to cost, because it looks like Jimmer's floor is now #12.

If true, this is great news for those hoping to see the Raptors select Brandon Knight. It would be highly unlikely that they would select 2 PGs in the lottery.

If true we may get Knight? Boy i hope so!

I see Jimmer playing SG anyway.

Isn't he like 6'2 180lbs?

Snooch 06-17-2011 06:28 PM

Toronto should request a workout just to mess with the Jazz and make them possibly pick him at 3.

Utah wouldn't be that stupid.

He says he's definitely a PG.

Plus with his size, if he were to play SG, you would need a big PG like J. Kidd or Russell Westbrook to make it work defensively.

Side note, he worked out for the Jazz on the same court as Kemba Walker yesterday, so he must of shown them something nice, most likely his much maligned defense.

Ya probably, but seems better off as a SG regardless. Its not like other teams haven't played slightly undersized SGs before. Besides he'll be able to torch most people. I see him as a backup SG though, sixth man role.

And most consider him a tweener. Plus i just don't think Jimmer will be a 2 in the NBA.

MARTYNAS 06-17-2011 07:13 PM

Is that true Jimmer played one on one against Kemba the other day, and beat him? I heard it somewhere.

P.S. Monta has a lot of probmlems playing Sg, and he is very athletic. Now imagine Jimmer. Something like Juan Carlos Navarro, maybe super talented, but just too short to be great NBA player...

ya that would be awesome...imo, they are picking kanter...but it all depends on who Cleveland picks first...if they pick someone other than irving, we are screwed...

i'm getting more and more confident every day that knight will drop to 5.

initially i wasn't sold on him...but i like the potential.

bjjs 06-17-2011 09:37 PM

Utah might be the only team in the league where Jimmer will have the opportunity to get up the shot attempts he needs to be effective.

SoGood 06-18-2011 09:48 AM

Jimmer seems like a bigger JJ Barea to me. Crafty, can score...I think he'd be a liability on defense though...

I had posted this link in another thread.

The Hoops Report | NBA Draft Chatter: Fredette, Brooks Shine in Workouts

Fredette and Walker guarded each other in Utah, while Brooks and Burks guarded each other in Charlotte.

According to sources at both workouts, it was easy to determine a winner in both match ups.

A source at the Utah Jazz workout told me Jimmer Fredette was the best player in the workout and that Kemba Walker had trouble guarding him. The source also said that Fredette shot the ball really well and Walker didn't shoot well at all.

Multiple sources at the Charlotte Bobcats workout told me Marshon Brooks easily won his match up and had his way with Burks. The sources said it really wasn't even all that close. Brooks apparently also had an impressive dunk on Burks at one point in the workout.
