Draft Profile: Donatas Motiejunas

His quickness and athleticism is amazing. That being said I hope we don't draft him, haven't really heard anything good about his D.

MARTYNAS 06-17-2011 03:43 PM

His D is shit. Now you heard it.

Which prospect unfavorably reminds you of a current NBA player?

Dan Feldman, PistonPowered: Donatas Motiejunas reminds me of Andrea Bargnani. Doesn't defend, doesn't rebound. Bargnani is practically the best-case version of players like that. Except for what he could fetch on the open market, I wouldn't want him on my team.

Robert Silverman, Knickerblogger: Donatas Motiejunas could step right in for Andrea Bargnani and the Raps wouldn't miss a beat. Two jump shooting bigs who can't/won't rebound and/or defend.

You know. I dont' know what Andrea thinks, but I can tell you this, if it's me they are talking about..... I come out and challenge for the rebound title and the All defensive team.

Honestly.

I hate when people compare Donatas to bargs. It's became so popular opinion, no one even thinks anymore, they just blindly believes Donatas = Bargs. Donatas has the same weaknesses, but their game styles are completely different. Donatas is natural post scorer. The best he can do is perform post moves and draw fouls. Jump shooting is his minor threat. He is nothing like Bargnani on offense.

To early to say. He might be a good starter. If he can start defending better, he might become an all-star caliber player.

I still say we chose the right Lithuanian. :cookie:

Yup. :)

Donatas, with a lot of work, could possibly be another Andrea Bargnani, but he could also be a serious bust. One of his big knocks is "work ethic" - not something you want from a lotto pick.

Haha. Where did u hear that from? His work ethic is amazing.

ValanciunasFanboy 09-06-2011 09:31 AM

Is it? I know Kemzura said so, but there've been reports to the contrary. From before the summer.

More importantly, whatever he does in practice, he tends to float in games.
What was the first friendly of Lithuania this year, Slovenia? I forgot? {or maybe it was the second, either way, the first one that featured Donatas}
He completely floated on D in the first half, it was so frustrating to watch. I was watching that game with my family, we kept facepalming at him. So much talent, no serious flaws to his talent really, and he was just standing there straight with his feet set watching everyone run around. Then in the second half he was active, it was like day and night.
He's like a Rasheed Wallace really. Except he doesn't throw towels at ppl faces.
