Draft Profile: Anthony Davis

6-10 220lbs PF, University of Kentucky.

Quote:

Clearly Davis is one of the premier players in the class. He seems to fit best at power forward, but with his rebounding and shot blocking skill he could play center, and then he is athletic and skilled enough to be a small forward as well. Once he gets stronger, which he will, his potential is nearly limitless. Davis has the look of a big time NBA player down the road.
Strengths:
Multi-Positional
Rebounding
Shot Blocking

Weakness:
Strength

Quote:

Strengths: Combines a versatile skill-set with excellent length, fluidity and athleticism ... Was a 6'3" guard his junior year before a major 7-inch growth spurt, so he possesses good perimeter skills ... Ball handling and passing skills are very strong for a player his size ... Capable of throwing brilliant outlet passes to set his teammates up for easy points ... Very unselfish ... Runs the floor extremely well, usually beating his man down the court with ease ... Outstanding length (7'4" wingspan), activity and instincts makes him an absolute terror as a defender ... A dominant shot blocker who also shows great ability defending on the perimeter ... Despite skinny frame, is an excellent rebounder ... Seemingly impossible to keep him off the offensive glass ... Soft hands and long arms allow him to catch virtually anything thrown in the vicinity of him ... An easy target for lob passes ... Has great instincts around the rim, touch within 5 feet of the basket ... Great athleticism, body control and touch makes him a very strong finisher in the paint ... Very efficient ... Virtually unstoppable around the basket... Strong motor and aggressiveness ... Willing to make the hustle plays and is not afraid of contact at all ... Humble kid with tremendous upside...

Weaknesses: Very slender, even for the collegiate level ... It's likely that he just needs some time to fill into his new found height, but that remains to be seen ... As of now, the combination of his frail frame and aggressiveness gets him into foul trouble fairly quickly when matched up with a bigger opponent ... Isn't refined offensively. His shooting ability and post moves are solid, but will need to show improvement if he ever wants to be a go-to scorer at the NBA level ... Growth spurt could cause some issues with his knees, could experience some significant pain and could also be a little injury prone for the next year or so ...

Outlook: Considered the top player in his class by many college recruiting sites, including Scout and ESPN... Was the highlight of the Jordan Brand Classic with 29 points (13-15 FG), 11 rebounds and 4 blocks... Will be playing for a very deep Kentucky team next season, where he can utilize his strengths... Likely one-and-done candidate who projects to be a top-5 pick in next year's draft ...

In 5 games:
24.8MPG 12.6PPG 7.4RPG 4.4BPG 76% FG

his unibrow scares the offense shitless, lets get him.

This guy is way to ugly, there's no way he could play alongside a stallion like Bargnani. :police:

we aren't talking about that, we're talking about how he's a sight for sore eyes to the ladies and some dudes. deep inside, if someone asked you "would you hit that?" there will be a whispered "yes". don't deny it

Big week for Davis. Thursday vs St John, Saturday vs North Carolina. Early chance to show how good he is.

RaptorsandBuckeye FaN 12-02-2011 01:11 PM

15points 15rebounds 8blocks vs St John. Impressive. Now Saturday will be his biggest test all year when he takes on UNC!

RaptorsandBuckeye FaN 12-03-2011 08:03 PM

i8th Wonder Of The World 12-06-2011 11:07 AM

Game winning block against UNC. Man... him and jones are doing work for us down here in Lexington. I hope the Raptors draft one of them :dead:

Jeremy 12-30-2011 06:30 PM

Maybe we draft Davis and he and Ed become to neo-Davis brothers. Haha.

LX 12-31-2011 03:22 PM

Saw him play against Louisville this afternoon a little bit. He looks intriguing.

I've heard of Michael Gilchrist, must've added Kidd or something.

Yeah, he's going to be a nice player. Was the #1 SF in high school last year.

LX 12-31-2011 08:52 PM

Yeah - he really stood out in the game today. That's a pretty nice team.

RaptorsandBuckeye FaN 01-08-2012 12:58 AM

12pts 10reb 7blks 2stls in the win over South Carolina. lol

Conference play starting for all teams so finally can get to judge all of them a little more now.

RaptorsandBuckeye FaN 01-14-2012 12:52 PM

From ESPN announcer:

In Kentucky 4 biggest games(Indiana, North Carolina, Kansas, and one more top 25 team) with Davis on the floor Kentucky allows 0.88 points per possession. With him on the bench it was 1.04 points per possession. A difference of 17points over 40min.

Superjudge 01-14-2012 01:03 PM

ya, but do we really want to draft another undersized C?

we have 3 already

RaptorsandBuckeye FaN 01-21-2012 04:47 PM

4.7BPG on the year. 11pts 9reb 4blks 4stls today. Struggle shooting going only 2-10 but dude blocks anything close to him. Changes game just by his defense.

On Tuesday he had 27pts 14reb 7blks against Arkansas. BEAST
