Thinking about it, I could see Minny taking Kanter as well. Kanter's display at the combine certainly re opened eyes to his upside. Field a line of Kanter/Love/Beasly/Johnson/Rubio.

I could see the draft going
1. Cavs - Williams
2. Minny - Kanter
3. Utah - Irving
4. Cavs - Knight
5. Raps - ...and Jonas withdraws prior to draft lmao

If he's our pick, I hope he does withdraw.

Jeff's right, it's much better that we stock up on point guards. Can't have too many point guards! Maybe we could even trade Bargs for Minny's pick then draft Knight AND Walker. The fearsome four point guard controversy would be in full effect! Better yet, maybe Minnesota will throw Rubio in the deal!

It doesn't matter, though. Colangelo will make Dwight Howard appear out of thin air. No draft? No free agents? No teams looking to deal talented centers? No problem for the miracle maker Colangelo!

Our defense isn't terrible because our center doesn't defend. (This is the basketball equivalent of having a goalie that's more interested in setting up goals than making stops.) It's because Jay Triano doesn't run out there and make Bargs defend!

Sarcasm aside though, I think it's time for Raptor fans to wake up and stop falling in love with guard play. We need to go big. All the best teams do. It's the pattern throughout the entire history of the NBA and it still holds true today. We don't have a single quality big. Reggie is completely one dimensional, Amir is undersized, Ed Davis is even more undersized, Bargnani is Bargnani and everyone else is a complete scrub that gets sent to the D league on almost any other team.

The way to get quality size is through the draft. Not by trading for guys with long injury histories, or by signing guys that didn't make the cut for their former teams. The way you get quality size is through the draft.

We have a high pick this year, now let's use it right. Draft Bargs' replacement then relegate him to the bench or trade him.

And by the way, Brandon Knight had trouble adjusting to PG in college. He really isn't there yet. He's just as much a project as anyone.

What's wrong with Jonas? From what I've seen, he's exactly what we need. A defensive and explosive center.

Reminds me a bit of Brook Lopez actually.

Brook Lopez is a horrible comparison... He is worst defensively than Bargnani.

I don't know enough about Jonas to like or dislike him though.

Worse is a stretch. Plus, at least he's a better rebounder.

Regarding Valancinuas:

Main problem is that his contract situation in Europe may hold him back for a few years, kind of like Rubio. This team needs immediate talent, and can't afford to wait for someone to join the rsoter.

I can't say I watched a lot of him, but liked what I saw from clips and scout comments. He seems to work hard and tries to get boards and play D. He needs to bulk up and improve his variety of post skills but I think he has enough potential and work ethic to do that.

He had an off season when it comes to rebounding, but his previous two seasons he averaged 8.5rpg and his career rpg is 7.6 vs Bargnani's pultry 4.9 and Lopez is 3yrs younger. Who do you think has a better track record when it comes to rebounding, and who do you think has a better chance at averaging 8+ rpg for his career? No contest, to base Lopez on this past season alone when he has a track record of rebounding, and he's only 23 would be extremely short sighted, plus he averaged 1.5blks as well.

He's a better rebounder, shot blocker and averages 20ppg.

Last season they were one of the worst team in NBA history.. so it wouldn't exactly be hard to grab 8 rebounds when you're surrounded by shit. He was basically stat packing, then again it didn't do the team any good.

It shouldn't be hard to grab rebounds on the Raptors, considering Reggie Evans was out for most of the season.

Like i said, he's proven in 3 seasons that he's a better rebounder then Bargnani who's played 5 seasons and i can't see how anyone can question that.

His highlight packages are insane. It's not his athleticism but his intensity. His dunks are fierce.

He looks like a guy that really wants (needs?) to dominate on the court. That's his best attribute (besides being almost 7 feet tall).

I don't know about the Brook Lopez comparison, though.

To me he's more like this past season's Amir but really long. And more competitive. Minus that 17 footer, and with a hook shot.
