Default 2nd round draft picks?

I think there's probably a 50/50 chance that we trade our first round pick, but will hold on to our 2nd rounders. My guess is, is that if we trade our first, we'll pick a senior with the 37th pick, and a prospect that we can stash away with the 56th pick.

Anybody you'd like to see the Raptors pick up with these 2nd rounders?

My first choice, would be Jae Crowder.

He may slip now, that he measured under 6'4'', but regardless of height, we was the heart and soul of Marquette, he's a DC kind of player, and he can guard multiple positions. I can see him being a really good role player for years - which is pretty much best-case scenario for 2nd rounders.

Another energy guy that I wouldn't mind would be Quincy Acy out of Baylor. "All-motor" guys (like Keneth Faired/Reggie Evans) seem to be successful in the league, and these are players that good teams have.

I'd even consider Robert Sacre, but with Alabi on the roster? Bringing in Jonas and needing to find time for a re-signed Gray, Potentially Magloire, and Amir, I don't know if we'd have the room to break in another rookie C. Although I think he'd work well in Dwane Casey's system.

Who is on your list as 2nd rounders?

I want the Buford kid from Ohio State. He would be awesome off the bench.

2nd rounders are such a shot in the dark. The amount of 2nd rounders turn into a Jeff Hornaceck or a Dennis Rodman is so limited.

You just have to hope the scouts get lucky.

Def, I want to see how Isaiah Thomas turns out, he's a surprisingly really good player

Eric Griffin is a guy that isn't showing up on many draft radars, but if we aren't able to snag Quincy Miller, Griffin is basically the same type of player and could be had in the second round.

I like others, would love to see Jae Crowder on this team, even with his small height, he'd be a very useful utility player. However, I think both second rounders are dealt. DC doesn't seem like the kind of coach to be patient with young players, especially ones who aren't pegged in as starters from day one.

I loved Crowder. I'm a bit surprised he's so small. But he's got a lot of talent and would be well worth a shot.

He did a lot in the tournament too. He was relentless in attacking the rim, and ignited that Baylor team. I'd take a flyer on him or Crowder for sure (despite their heights - or lack thereof.)

i like robbie hummel a ton, his shooting ability and his basketball i.q are two things i like, he did get hurt with his two acl injuries,

i wouldn't mind taking a flyer on him and then send him to germany, give him a couple of kobe knee injections, give him a chance to compete

he does look like in his highlights geting his speed back plus he can post up

lets not forget that the last pick of the draft was a top 5 player in the rookie class this year

Very true!

(I had to look it up), but Isiah Thomas had a great rookie season. I'd like to see one of our 2nd round picks work out this year. We have a horrible history with second round picks, which is why I'd like to see the Raps pick a high energy/high motor guy like Jae Crowder, or Quicy Acy. We haven't had a guy like that since JYD (minus Reggie Evans' injury free time)

SI had some scouts give opinion on about 52 players. Here are some on some of the projected players who will be in the 2nd round and some notes on them:

Quincy Acy, 6-7 forward, Baylor: "He's an undersized Kenneth Faried type. High character kid, not a great offensive player, but he's an energy guy off the bench."

William Buford, 6-5 guard, Ohio State: "He looked a little heavy at the combine, didn't shoot it real well, so he probably hurt himself. I wouldn't draft him. I don't think he likes to play. I don't think he has enough toughness."

Jae Crowder, 6-6 guard, Marquette: "Size is an issue because he measured small in Chicago, but he just does enough things well. High motor, high energy, rebounds. For a mid-second-round guy, he's not bad. I don't know quite what his NBA skill is other than he plays hard."

Draymond Green, 6-7 forward, Michigan State: "I'm not feeling [him]. I think he's an average athlete. He has a high I.Q. and he's coachable, so he'll survive for a while. He has versatility, can really handle the ball, and his shot's not broken."

Robbie Hummel, 6-8 forward, Purdue: "I like Robbie. I think he's finally getting healthy. He's the kind of guy you want to have. He's a better athlete than you think. His knees don't seem to be an issue."

Darius Johnson-Odom, 6-3 guard, Marquette: "He's a killer. I like him. He's going to will himself into our league. He can score, he can guard, and he'll make your practices better."

Kris Joseph, 6-7 forward, Syracuse: "He tested pretty well in Chicago and shot it decent. He had a good body of work at Syracuse, but the sum of his parts is more than the whole. He has ability, but you're just waiting for him to do more."

Tyshawn Taylor, 6-4 guard, Kansas: "Second-round pick. Gotta prove he can be consistent taking care of the ball, but he's very talented. His size and athleticism at that position is pretty good."
