Yes, it's early. So what?

Thought it was unnecessary for foxsports to take yet another swipe at the franchise when there are that many teams below in their draft, but it's to be expected.

"12th Mitch McGary, PF Michigan

This franchise is a mess. The Raptors desperately need a lot of help down low, and McGary is an animal who would tear it up in the post north of the border."

Only if he's the best player available, but I'd love to see us move up in the draft a bit.

Fuck the playoffs, let's just tank. I am going to pray to the tank gods all season for the number 1 pick, they owe us for Bargnani

Our starting lineup is more than adequate. Somewhat balanced as well. If only we had a bench

yeah, this is pretty stupid for non-Raptor related reasons as well. We don't even need to be sensitive Raptor fans to call this a poorly done mock, if it's getting put out by a supposedly professional outlet. They fucked a bunch of shit up.

Cleveland picking 5th? Not likely.

Wizards picking 8th? Not likely.

Utah 16th? Not likely. And I don't think that's because they think it's the GS pick, since this page was last updated the first week of July, before that was probably official.

But it gets worse. Bad predictions aside, it's also shitty because of the errors.

1 - Detroit picking 9th is both a bad prediction and impossible. Detroit's 2014 pick goes to Charlotte if it falls outside the 1-8 protection zone.

2 - Philly picking 15th? Philly missed the playoffs last year and has even less talent now, so most expect a tank. And this mock was done after they traded Holiday, as illustrated by their comment about Noel playing for Philly, so there is no excuse for this dumbass prediction. Furthermore, even if Philly did make the playoffs, they owe their 2014 pick to Miami if it falls outside of the lottery. So Philly can't pick 15th; the pick would go to the Heat.

3 - The New York Knicks don't even have a pick. They got it right that Orlando gets a second first round pick via Denver or NY, but they left the Knicks with a pick. That's wrong. I think that's maybe where they expected GS to pick and it's just fucked up.

4 - Brooklyn doesn't have a pick; it goes to Boston (or the Celts get the Hawks position if Atlanta's pick is the least favourable).

* a few of the other predictions are really "lolwut?" worthy but that's probably because it was done before Howard decided to leave the Lakers for Houston. But even with Howard, after what happened last year, why would the Lakers be a top 5 team in the West, as the draft position suggests?

Well, I guess there are 2 ways this can go....

1. Lowry proves his worth, stays healthy and helps make everyone on the floor better, Demar has a long range shot and improved defense, Gay gets serious about leading a team in every way, Amir and Hansbrough prove more than capable at 4, JV is ready to make a big contribution and they sit in 7th/8th playoff spot.

16th pick?

2. Early injuries, they are not playing well as a team, clear their best efforts are leading nowhere. The evaluation is over. Ship off assets early enough to join the tankers.

High lottery pick and whatever picks they can pick up from moving assets, stink it up in 2015 for yet another high lottery pick. Plenty of cash to spend properly.

In #1 you forgot to mention that the bench isn't horrible and that there are no key injuries to the starting 5.

Injuries are in #2 because any long term key injury early could signal lights out to playoffs and still have enough time to tank.

And to me, bench is important, but as far as I'm concerned, the top 6 who play big minutes, including a Harden when in OKC and a Ginobli in SA determine your fate. If Terence Ross turned into Ray Allen light with great defense, we'd know that right away.

I'd go with a dominating top 6 and a bunch of 6.5/10 role players ferrying in and out of the lineup over just a "good" starting 6 and a deep bench anytime.

I really doubt that Exum is going to be in 2014 draft, but yea this is the year to tank.
