i think too that i can become a battier-like or a marion-like, +-.

i will not forget that he has more in his first 3 games in toronto than in 1 and a half season in chicago, so i'm not so worried.

like Jeffb said, i'm more worried about our 1 and 5 spot. despite the fact that i think bayless can do a good job, so adress the Bargnani spot (get ride of him asap) and than we will see what happen.

but he is nothing like sonny. i think he is a better defender, rebounder, and can play more hustle than sonny. we need a SF like that to start, and then kleiza of the bench to shoot. that would be a great pair of SF.

and if barbo goes away, then sonny can do the backup for DD. but for the right price.2 or 3 M max.

JJ is still green in the league so i will give him time like we did/do with DD.

JJ is a great back-up not a starter. Kleiza will be back as the starter.

We definitely need a 1 and a 5. If we do get Williams, we should trade him and Bargs to fill those positions. If we get Irving, Knight or Walker then just trade Bargs for a C to a team that needs a PF. OR trade Davis for a C - we're not going to get something without giving something.

No way in hell do we trade Derrick Williams and keep JJ/Kleiza. Fact is, if we can get Williams and then trade for a Center i'd be pretty happy. Even if it meant holding onto Calderon at least until next season's trade deadline. Derozan, Williams, Davis plus a good defensive Center would mean we're seemingly going in the right direction.

I'd take Irving over Dwill any day however, if we did get/keep Williams a good defensive C would be critical in either scenario- we'd certainly have enough scoring

Whats wrong with Derrick Williams? Hes an incredible shooter with great post-game. He can play inside and outside which makes him very difficult to guard. He also has great size for his position. I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want this guy on their team, hes a legit monster.

Legit monster in the NCAA for sure. He plays PF and his game is PF. However he has an inconsistent face up game, tends to hold the ball way too long, turnover prone and a shoddy mid range shot - 4 things he'll need/correct if he were to transition to SF in the NBA. Thats going to be a lot to ask though I'm certainly not saying he can't. He is by definition the 'tweener'.

The reason I like Irving is his position will be the same at the next level. He'll be enhancing his game.

D-will said himself he is a SF and wants to play SF in the NBA. Labeling him a PF when he himself says hes a SF isn't logical. He has better range than most people in the NBA, shooting lights out from the 3 point line. He can spread the floor opening up attacks from DeRozan, or he can play inside. Either way he brings alot to the table.

It's not about logic....it's what he's played. I'm not questioning his long range it's his mid range thats sketchy. I respect that he thinks himself a SF and wants to play that position, if he can adapt his game great but that doesn't mean he will be.

Question, what is his personality like? Just curious as DD considers the Raps 'his' team;, would that be an issue?

DeRozan never considered the Raps 'his team'. All season everyone was saying its Bargnani's.

I disagree with that. Everyone may have wanted Bargs to take the team but he sure hasn't. DD has been quoted as saying he wants to be the leader and sure has carried on that way. I just dont know if his personality is strong enough

he can play defense, rebound, block shots, playmaker, dunks, not scared of taking a shot

If a better player comes along, see ya.

I'm always weary when a good team gives up on a young player that was supposed to pan out. If a coach likes you, he'll find time for you (especially with the skill set he has, playing the 3/4).

I dunno, I see what you're saying, but there wasn't much of a spot for him on Chicago to get any sort of real minutes. I think he'd make a good bench player at the very least if we got someone else.

I guess for me it depends how he does in the off season.
