You be the GM

Ok hypothetically.....we are at the half way point of the season, are at 22-19and the trade deadline in upon us. Who do you trade, if anyone... and for whom do you trade for? We've got a playoff spot but are only a couple games out of 9th.....what do you do?

Just so you know, you can't deal Banks because nobody wants him even in a package. And Pheonix won't deal with you (as is the conveluted consensus around here).

Expiring contracts:

Bosh- 15.7Mil (won't pickup PO next season)
Amir-3.6Mil
Wright-2.1Mil
Rasho-1.9Mil
POB- 1.6Mil
Pops- 736K
Wemms- 736K (TO for next season)

***Please be realistic, this isn't a video game.

If we're 22-19 i wouldn't make any moves at that point.

I'd hear out Bosh related requests from other teams, but i wouldn't be making the calls.

Again that's assuming we're over .500.

I agree. If we have a 22-19 record at that point, I would not make a move. If they kept that record going they could get 5th seed and why would you mess with the chemistry.

Well, 22-19 is actually an ideal record, but it depends on too much whether you trade Bosh or not. First off, is he content with the way he's playing? Are there injuries? Personally I think Bosh should have been traded already because the formula doesn't seem to be working. If Bosh was traded for Deng, Johnson (James), and Noah we could be a completely different team. Imagine!

Jose
DeRozan
Turk
Bargnani
Noah

6th Deng
7th Jack
8th Belinelli
9th Wright
10th Amir
11th Rasho
12th Johnson
13th Wright

That's a deep team with balanced scoring. Let's be honest, Deng and Bosh are both jump shooters who can draw fouls...Bosh is more polished, but overall you can see similarities.

Until we know CB's plans, any trade/player signing should, and will be very minor.

Then we'd be just like Chicago..a team with no inside scoring threat longing for a versatile big man

I tell Triano to give Jose plenty of shots in an attempt to boost his trade value. When Jose fails, I give Banks some burn, since he can supposedly play some D.

Depends on Bosh. If he's ok with getting the 7th-8th seed then resigning, then we do it obviously. I want to make the playoffs again so I'd try for that

If Bosh tells me he's done and leaving, listen to some offers. Joakim Noah has cooled down lately so Chicago might be willing to part with him if he's gone back to being a "solid defensive C" instead of a "great franchise cornerstone".

If Bosh wants out I deal him at the deadline rather than S&T. Offers will be higher if teams get Bosh for this year's playoff run, plus a S&T puts us against the wall.

But if we're 22-19 I fully expect us to keep the same roster and go for the playoffs. Maybe make a non major move like getting a better backup SF than Antoine Wright.

Can't deride it until it's actually attempted. If he's starved for minutes, he'd likely play good D in an attempt to receive more, and in turn, this would allow Hedo to handle more. It's worth a try IMO..I'm not saying bench Jose outright, just give Banks a chance, but keep him on a short leash.

I'm exaggerating because his whole style of play is starting to bother me. Clearly we'd get fleeced giving those picks away. But really Bargs has to get his shit together, I can't stand watching him float around and take lazy jump shots. That pump fake on the arch and step inside for a lonnnng 2 is driving me absolutely bonkers.

Problem is, though, acquiring Rashard just gives us two SF who are making $30 million combined. And you can't play Rashard at the PF with Bargs at center, since that would make us an even worse rebounding team than we are right now. Hedo would have to be moved because nobody would take Lewis's contract.
