YOU are Bryan Colangelo... what do YOU do?
ok folks, we've read lots of posts and threads about how we need to make changes, how things need to be done... we've complained, we've whined, we talked about what we think BC will do.
enough of that. lets put the ball in YOUR court.... if YOU were BC, YOU were GM of the Raptors, what would you do right this minute to try and fix these "problems"? remember, you are the GM so theres no holds barred, you can do whatever you want... trade bosh, trade bargs, fire Triano.. anything you think would turn this team around, anything your crazy mind can think of. make your recommendation and detail why you'd do this. |

I would do a few smaller things. I would field Bosh calls. Probably try to add an inside presence for cheap...I mean if Ike Diogu or someone comes back from injury they can be had for pretty cheap. What can BC do? One more move and this team resembles my NBA 2K8 Raptors team...you can't keep trading to get better. Let them gel for now. Now, January and February is when this post should be re-opened.

My idea
Trade Calderon, Bargnani and Wright to the 76ers for Thaddeus Young, Sammy D, and Willie Green. Dalembert had issues with the sixers in the past, and we get our defensive, rebounding centre. Even if he gets into foul trouble, we have a solid bench in the front court. We let go of Jose and Wright, in return get a solid slasher in Young, maybe even teaching a thing or two to DeRozan; and also a back up PG in Willie Green. The sixers get rid of Dalembert and get Bargnani who can shoot from outside and stretch the D for Iguodala to get into the paint, and also an inside-outside offense with Brand in the front court. They also get Calderon and Wright. In need of a point guard with Williams going down, Jose is one of the better PGs in the league and can take some pressure off of Iguodala. When Williams returns, him and Jose can create a very effective dual at the PG spot with their very different style of plays (almost like TJ and Jose years ago). Sixers also get a defensive minded forward/guard in Wright to fill the starting lineup. Salaries work. So the lineups look like this Raptors: PG- Jack/Green SG- Young/DeRozan/Belinelli SF- Turkoglu/Young PF- Bosh/Evans C- Dalembert/Johnson 76ers: PG- Calderon/Williams (when he returns) SG- Iguodala/Kapono SF- Wright/Kapono PF- Brand/Smith C- Bargnani/Speights We can throw in Pops or POB if they want. Also, getting Sam Mitchell back would be nice, but that won't happen. |

personally, if i was BC, i wouldnt do squat right now... i'd blame most of the loses on a difficult sched, and hope things turn around when the schedule eases up. there is no magic switch that can be flicked to change things drastically, so why make a change just for the sake of it. i think we need to come back to reality and let this play out. give it about 3 more weeks and then see what happens then. |

I slap some sense into everyone of the coaches. Take em into a room and make them watch countless hours of defense related video 'clockwork orange' style.

Well basically our top defensive culprits are Jose, Hedo and Bargnani. Bosh gets dishonourable mention as #4. Frankly, we're so disjointed on D that I can't even fully blame the players anymore - it has to be the system.
I'm a bona-fide Triano nut-rider, and I'm not calling for his head, but something needs to be done in the next 20 games to show that we are committed to D and will somehow improve. If anything, we've regressed and we're easily the worst defensive team I've ever witnessed. We can outscore any team in the league, but that's irrelevant because any game against even the shittiest teams will be a struggle because of our atrocious, lazy, leave players WIDE open D. |

Trade everyone on the team except Bosh for lebron and wade. Bring in some highschool kids because I bet they can play better defence and rebound the ball decently than the group we have.

There's not really much you could do. It's a little too early to start entertaining offers. I wouldn't make any major tweaks to the system, either.
I would call the coaches in and get a bigger picture of what's going on. Pinpoint our defensive liabilities and evaluate all the options as to what could be done to remedy them. If that problem is a particular player - I can't see how some civil discourse would hurt. They actually play in the games: they're just as aware as the coaches. |

Some hard decisions have to be made. If Triano isn't going to make them, then that leaves Colangelo faced with some tough decisions.
It's still too early to do anything crazy, but they need some results starting about now. Trying to make everyone feel good isn't going to cut it. What makes everyone feel good more than anything is winning. Figure out how to do that, and make it up to the players to figure out how they can become contributors. Right now there is just too much hoping that winning will happen in spite of various problems. That doesn't seem like a good way to go forward even if they will have some lesser competition in the coming weeks. |

If we can we should trade Turkoglu to the Blazers for Andre Miller
Then maybe we can trade Andrea for Samual Dalembert. Calderon plays amazing off the bench, its just that for some reason he loses concentration when he plays too much. He would be an excellent back up imo. This way we have two tough players that can bring some defence to our team. Miller would make an excellent leader too. The Blazers wanted Turkoglu to begin with, and Philly was trying to trade Dalembert Last edited by kia4ever; 11-30-2009 at 10:11 PM. |
