We better win our last 3 games then. Chicago might lose to NY (if they're still in it), or Charlotte (still fighting for 6th).

From an entertainment perspective, playing Brooklyn might be a lot of fun. Watching the reffing would be frustrating, I suspect, but it would be great for development.

Really, there are pluses to any scenario, aside from playing the Bobkittens. That just has "no thanks" written all over it....weird mathcup, poor coverage/media attention, not the greatest playoff experience for our developing players...etc...

Dario 04-11-2014 10:28 PM

yeah bobcats no pls, i rather see an entertaining series with bky, i think we lose in 6 games against them though, hard to see us winning, but we do have homecourt now, which is nice

If KG is not healthy, it may be entertainment. If he is, not sure you will enjoy us scoring 80 points every game on brick after brick.

It amazes me how people discount somebody of KG's calibre - yes, he's old and goes through the motions most of the time. In the playoffs though? You'd better watch out. He's the same age as Duncan and BKN without KG has been more or less as good as us. Now imagine adding Duncan to that team - that's what KG will bring in the playoffs.

If it was up to me, we'd take down the 06/07 banner and not bother hanging this year's.

Banners should be for bigger things.

Either way, if we continue to play no defense like the last three weeks, it'll be Nets in 5.

KG is NOT as good as Duncan, and hasn't been for more than a year. He's the same age but came into the league as a teenager. He's got a shitload of mileage on those legs, with extra minutes, and not getting the rest that Pop gives Duncan lately.

But, you do have a point about him POTENTIALLY having a defensive impact on the game. It's still a good learning experience. And I still think it will be competitive ball. That is entertaining.

didnt jonas destroy KG last time we played them?

the only thing that scares me with brooklyn is the refs

lankganglia 04-11-2014 10:49 PM

b4 the season did anyone think this could happen? good job raps:yeah:

Ball Don't Lie 04-11-2014 10:53 PM

Yeah Duncan maintained his level of play last season, whereas KG was injury prone and his game fell off a bit. He's still a beast in the playoffs though, everyone thought he was done vs NYK and he was putting up double doubles with 15+ boards every game. BRK is still a horrible matchup for us IMO.

last time we played them with KG in the lineup, Jonas dropped 20 or so.

good memory, Dario.

Bill Haverchuck 04-11-2014 10:55 PM

Brooklyn could be worst matchup short term, but best longterm if the team is kept together because of the intensity/experience. And if we did somehow manage to win, that would be a great short term confidence boost. High risk/reward.

You non-tankers are ruining the future of this franchise. I hope you feel good about yourselves. :cookie:

Edit: to be clear - I'm not a tanker. At the start of the season I was dreading a season of losing and endless draft pick threads. I was poking fun at some of the super rigid tanking attitudes I read in some threads this year i.e.: "there's only one way to build a team and if you aren't a tanker then you are dooming the franchise to a decade of mediocrity"

Pierce missed two straight freethrows late in the game tonight, and hasn't been as hot as he was a week or so ago. He might be feeling his age about now.

I'm aware that KG has way more miles, but not sure it will make a huge difference in the playoffs. There's a reason TD can still go a full regular season and KG can't, but for 10-12 games in the playoffs? Not sure the difference is huge, especially so on the defensive end. They don't need KG to score, although he will punish you if you don't guard him. Maybe not in the post anymore, but from mid-range he's still deadly.

My biggest concern is his defense though. It's not enough they have livingstone, PP and JJ to hound our guys on the perimeter, but with KG behind them, how exactly are we going to score? It will be UGLY, unless we can get some monster games from JV.

The other thing KG does is completely destroys your P&R with Amir, which is one of our strongest weapons.

And their bench is super strong too, definitely better than ours.

That's why I've wanted us to avoid BKN like the plague - the playoff games against them will be nothing like the regular season games, and those were not great either (don't forget each game we played them they were on a B2B - amazingly enough).

I would consider even a strong effort against them as a MAJOR accomplishment for our team.
