maybe I'm biased with BKN, but I see them as easily the 2nd best team in the east, even though they would struggle against some matchups. They fricking went 4-0 against miami, and most games were WITHOUT garnett ...

and I think they won two pre-season games against the heat too, which would make them 6-0 against miami.

sealed up at home with a loss to the knicks. if we play like we did tonight it doesn't matter who our opponent is in round 1.

Pretty much. The worst part though is that the first half tonight is how we've played the last 2-3 weeks. Our slow starts better get cleaned up in our last three games. This team thinks they can just turn it on whenever they want and think they can always come back. They're in for a rude awakening if they do that in the playoffs. And if we go into the playoffs being strictly a jump shooting team that won't work either.

Very happy that we clinched the division + home court advantage. Can't wait for the playoffs to start.

They don't need KG to score, although he will punish you if you don't guard him. Maybe not in the post anymore, but from mid-range he's still deadly.

My biggest concern is his defense though. It's not enough they have livingstone, PP and JJ to hound our guys on the perimeter, but with KG behind them, how exactly are we going to score? It will be UGLY, unless we can get some monster games from JV.

The other thing KG does is completely destroys your P&R with Amir, which is one of our strongest weapons.

And their bench is super strong too, definitely better than ours.

That's why I've wanted us to avoid BKN like the plague - the playoff games against them will be nothing like the regular season games, and those were not great either (don't forget each game we played them they were on a B2B - amazingly enough).

I would consider even a strong effort against them as a MAJOR accomplishment for our team.
I don't see how their bench is close to ours... our bench is one of our biggest pluses. It's why we are where we are.

As for the division, it is hard to believe we managed to win it going 40-21 since our 6-12 start. No one predicted it before the season and up until the game tonight (which I went to and was quite disappointed they didn't play with much energy or grit) we actually had a chance at getting FIFTY WINS. But that does leave something to be played for during the regular season next year. Can't wait for the playoffs and while Charlotte would be lame (thx goes to Boston) at this point it's the playoffs and I think we can beat any first round opponent in seven games. DeMar and Amir better go HAM on this bitch from the get go, though.

I think every playoff game in the first round is about a 50% chance for the Raps to win no matter who they play. If Salmons, Patterson and Amir can raise their effort level over the next couple of games the playoffs might be fun.

the optimal matchup is the wizards imo, charlotte second. Brooklyn just has too much playoff experience for the Raps to have a chance.

^It's going to be the Nets in all likelihood. Let's support our team and hope not all the calls fall their way. If we try and lose, at least it will be against the team who has the most all-star appearances out of any team in the last 10 years and that everyone expected to do a lot better in the regular season. If we win, we can say we beat the most experienced team outside of the Spurs/Clips/Heat and no one, even crappy anti-Toronto American pundits, will be able to take away from us our due as a team.

If we play against Nets, two factors will determine the outcome of this series :
1- JV and Amir with their inside games.
2- Our fans and the way they will support this team using home courtt advantage. If the fans made enough noise and supported the team well, our chances will be high.

They played better tonight than on a lot of other nights recently. Still not at all good enough, or true to who they need to be. Which is why i am not in the least bit upset about the loss. A win might have had an overall negative effect. They needed to see just where they are at and get that focus narrowed.

yeah i figured this would be a tough game, the result isn't overly surprising. long-term this will be good, I think it will wake them up a bit.

While a Toronto-Brooklyn matchup is looking likely at the moment, if Toronto draws Charlotte, the chatter is the U.S. networks wonít even bother to send up a crew for that series and instead will use the Toronto broadcast. Thatís because there will be little interest in watching those two teams in the States.
Raptors Knicks PPG: The Atlantic’s been won, but not because of efforts like this; Valanciunas laments missed easy ones; Amir and DeMar, longest-serving Raptors, proud; Lots of love for Wiggins boys | Courtside

It doesn't matter who we face in the 2nd round, none of them are cakewalks. this team isn't a dominant force and will always need to play hard to win. just that simple.

going 4-0 vs miami aint that impressive. teams like BKN act like its a playoff games against lebron cause they want to send a message. Also, okc went 4-0 vs spurs, dont mean they will win in a playoff series tho. imo, pacers/bulls would destroy nets because there defense is not great and they are a bad rebounding team.
