WTF is going on?

Has there even been one deal made today by anyone? It seems to me that the FA players are really feeling this out to see what they can get and trying to wait out the GM's. And with only a hand full of teams having any kind of flexibility this looks like it may take a while to get things done. I'm guessing that once one or two major signings are made official the domino's will fall and it will set the bar for the other players waiting to make a deal.

As for the Raptors, once Marion is signed or S&T, i expect things to happen quickly (ie: Kleiza?, Delfino, PG?.....) but everything is being put on hold by these Marion negotiations.

The NHL sucks.

But TSN is good for a really good laugh with their stupid 5hr FA telecast.

Well they can't officially sign contracts for a while, so maybe that has something to do with it. But yeah, it does seem kind of eerie

Don't pretend that you wouldn't be watching if it was NBA FA coverage...I know that I would.

No signing can be made official until the one week moratorium is over. You can talk to free agents and shake hands on a deal, but you can't officially sign them or comment on anything. We'll just have to believe what the reporters tell us.

I would to a degree. But they wouldn't be dumb enough to sit there for 5hrs and disect every deal/potential deal/rumour with reporters in 5-6 cities and two panels in studio........and then have a 1 hour recap show.I think the puckhead media has gone looney.

That rule is stupid, but even so report always come in on July 1/2/3 about signings. Which really makes that 1 week moratorium pointless.

Well, this is Canada and there's a market for that kind of stuff. They wouldn't televise it if they couldn't sell advertising for it, and they couldn't sell advertising for it unless advertisers believed that people would tune in.

I guess so, but even poeple i know that like hockey laugh at this kind of coverage ala the 10hr trade deadline day which is even worse. I just don't get how some sit there all day and watch that and not think it's rediculously over the top and kinda cheesy, as they sit there and talk about it as if it's life or death. Even going to such lengths as bringing in a feekin' monkey during the playoffs. lol

haha yeah that's pretty silly stuff. maybe they're thinking that people will want to know trade news and will tune in and out intermittently throughout their 5-hour coverage, not that people will sit and watch the whole 5-hours straight. that was how cable news was supposed to be initially, like it was cnn's initial model, but then it turned out that people DID want to watch it straight through, so they had to adjust to meet people's demands.

OMG!

Can you imagine someone would sit and watch all that hockey coverage?

It's almost as bad as someone sitting inside on the computer all day on a message board waiting for basketball signings instead of being outside enjoying Canada Day.

you DONT sit there all day and watch it, who the hell does that?? I actually like being able to turn on the TV and see what has happened, whether it's the ticker or from people talking. Hockey is great, Basketball is great (very boring today). But it isn't life, so get out there and live, sports should be maybe 2-3% of your life if that. Same with tv, if you sit around and watch t.v all day you're a wassstttteee

Does it really matter how old you are?

The movies are on TV on a regular basis.
