Default Wright S&T

Quote:
You know who’s kind of been forgotten in all this hullabaloo over Bosh’s impending free agency and Hedo’s appearance on Turkish TV and the addition of P.J. Carlesimo to the coaching staff?

Antoine Wright.

Now, I firmly believe that on a team with DeMar DeRozan and Sonny Weems on it there probably isn’t room for Wright and, as a free agent, I expect him to leave. (Although, with what I believe is an impending Turkoglu trade may cloud that issue).

Now, I do know this is you’re thinking sign-and-trade.

I’m told Minnesota had some interest very early last season; and I know there was some chatter with Cleveland around the trade deadline.

Is this one of those situations where earlier conversations that bore no fruit are re-visited in the summer?

Not sure but when you’re going over roster changes coming this summer, don’t forget to include Wright in the conversation.

Who would Minny give up in a S & T for Wright? That's crazy. And who realistically would we want that Minny wouldn't?

Maybe the 2nd rounder because a s & T with Wright for a 1st rounder is crazy talk/

Doesn't Minnesota have three picks in the first round? They'll be looking to give away the late first rounder. Wright might not do it alone but throwing in a second rounder might.

I think you guys underestimate Wright. He is a very solid veteran who shows toughness, defence and can make the offensive play. I'd like to see the guy stick, he was personally one of my bright spots on the roster last season. A lot of young teams could go to him for experience and toughness.

There's very little incentive for wright or the other team to do a s&t, at best we're looking at a 2nd rounder coming back

I'd have to agree with you completely - my +1 was directed at Duca's comments about Wright's attributes more so than his usefulness to a young team. My only gripe would be that we are getting rid of Wright when I'd much rather see Belinelli moved out. Frankly Wright seemed like one of the only guys showing any leadership on the team and depending on how our roster turns this offseason it might be something we need.

It's true what you say, but Beli is also only like 24... and showed flashes much like Delfino had in his first year here... I'd hold out hope for his progress, where I think Wright has reached his potential... which is very useful on a great team... Maybe Beli takes a jump in consistency after a good offseason, and you gotta love his willingness to attack and make plays.

Yeah I guess it all comes down to where the team is going into next year. If Bosh goes and the team rebuilds then I suppose it does make more sense to keep him over the veteran Wright, who I agree has probably reached his potential. Personally though I think Belinelli can't improve until he fixes his shot/shot selection... like seriously wtf is with those lateral moving 3's he takes. Either he's a complete idiot and won't listen to the staff or the Raps staff are seriously incompetent and aren't pressing him to change it.

+1.... though has the Raps staff ever scolded anyone on shot selection? Bosh especially.

If we managed to swing a deal for a very capable, all star wing, wright would be the perfect guy to have around when we need some defense.. for a poor defensive team, I would ASSUME a good defender is a good thing to have..

By the all-star break next year, Sonny Weems will have made Antoine Wright redundant.
