Raptors Would you welcome Vince Carter back?

Would you welcome VC back to finish his career, say a 2yr/vet min deal?

Quote:
Oh yeah and ONE more HUGE one! Masai asked permission from Mark Cuban to speak with Vince Carter while the Mavs were in Toronto to play the Raptors earlier this season (and Cuban said yes), and it was inferred that Carter does want to rejoin the Raptors next season and finish his career here. Ujiri said he hopes that Raptor fans could forgive him and that his legacy with the team is a very important one.

He wants way more than 2 mil and he believes he has earned that.

Vince Carter wants to stay a Dallas Maverick after this offseason - Mavs Moneyball

He can have salmons spot, except his defense may be worse..

He's still pretty productive and just his presence and hype would probably fill the ACC up every game

I thought the reasoning for Masai speaking with Vince was to give him some type of tribute once he retires, not signing him to play for the Raptors again.

Atleast that's what I recall from watching one of the #OpenGym episodes

Yes I would,he made some mistakes here, probably should acknowledge and apologize for some of it but either way he's had a great impact on basketball in Canada and the Raptors and finishing his career in TO would be a great ending for him and the organization.

He'd actually be the ideal backup 3 here; above-average 3pt shooting, passable defense, and an underrated playmaker.

But yes, he wants more than the minimum and he'll get it elsewhere.

in the interview where Masai talk about it, he said TIM spoke with Vince, not Masai.

so i think it was more about retiring his number than anything else !

but if VC came back next season as a backup 2, i would be fineand more than with it.

No. His presence would be a distraction from the current culture and identity of the team. It's something the old MLSE would have done in the interest of ticket sales. It won't be necessary if the new culture and success of this team is allowed to breathe.

I've already stated that VC could be a good backup, decent numbers, can shoot the 3, won't be counted on to carry the team and would be a good citizen given a chance to clean up the past. But the fact its TL acting and not Ujiri signifies VCs involvement in something ceremonial and symbolic in mending fences and becoming a real Raps alumnus especially by 2016. And even though you guys may not believe it, if he goes into the hall of fame, as a Raptor.

I think its totally Ujiris team and TL wouldn't say you're putting this guy on your roster. He'll only be a Rap if Ujiri thinks he can help the team.

I understand that Vince hate and participated in it but I think it's time to put it to bed. I'd like to see the ACC give him a standing O the next time he's playing in Toronto rather than the boos.

I would definitely want him back. People need to move on from the past and focus on the present and future. If Carter was willing to sign here for sensible money, would you guys honestly turn him away because of what happened back in 2004? If so, then that's sad.

I would welcome any player who will help the team win. No real need for him if Fields gets the run he should, but he'd certainly be an upgrade over Salmons.

This thread makes me want to puke. He quit, and had an immediate resurgence with a conference rival. He gave away plays during a game, for fuck's sake. It is simply astonishing that anyone would forgive him for that.

But even if you would forgive, he's a lazy basketball player that coasts on his talent, and always has. That's the #1 thing to avoid, according to ujiri himself (in his Strombo interview). He's either full of shit, or there's no way he would want him.

I don't boo him, but I could never again respect Vince. If Mlse brought him back I would cheer because of his uniform, but it would be like eating ortolan, and I would have to cover my face in shame. I would absolutely never 'welcome' him back.
