Default Would you trade DeRozan?

Would you trade him if the right offer came along? Say, Marc Gasol needed a s+t and they asked for DeRozan would you trade him?

I can throw out some other names, but just thinking, he can't really be considered untouchable. Can he?

Honestly, if we can end up with the #1 pick, draft Irving then yes. Especially if it's part of a bigger deal where we also get Mayo. Irving, Mayo, Gasol, Davis going forward would be ideal. That being said, no way this happens unless we also give them our top pick.

no one is untouchable, but you need to get the right pieces back. trading him for gasol, for instance, just shifts the gaping hole from c to sg. it could work as part of a larger plan, but subbing one good player for a different good player at another position isn't going to allow us to win any more games unless multiple holes are plugged with secondary moves.

I agree, but what's easier to get a Center like Gasol or an atheltic 2 guard? IMO if you can shore up the Bigs on this team (Gasol/Davis/Amir/Evans?) it's a start in the right direction. Especially if keeping our draft pick and possibly making a bigger deal and getting Mayo in return in the deal as well. But i just don't see any way Memphis would even consider this.

Irving
Mayo
Johnson
Davis
Gasol

This would be my wet dream for next season. But no way in hell will that happens. I think everything there is possible except for Gasol.

Derozan for gasol is a no-brainer, but they don't need him...

Derozan, Bargnani, future pick

for

Gasol, Mayo

I mean they aren't that married to the idea of keeping Mayo anyway. Maybe they think Randolph could make up for Bargnani's lack of rebounding.....but i highly doubt it.

Irving?/Bayless
Mayo/Barbosa
JJ/Kleiza/?
Davis/Amir/Evans?
Gasol/Dorsey/Alabi

Trade Jose in a seperate deal for depth? Absolute pipe dream though. No way in hell this or anything like it will happen.

Only in a package that would net us a legit star, or straight up for another youngster on a rookie contract with equal or greater potential.

when he has a big season and raps are in playoff contention.. then you will see why,
the grizzlies are balling, but I'm not going to get overly excited about mayo

I wouldn't trade him, for what reason?

you'd be crazy to trade derozan unless it was a trade you couldn't refuse

watching derozan develope that fadeaway, that money midrange, showing ability to go right and left..... watching him score 20 a game efficiently for the second half of the season and knowing that asside from a few games still wasn't gettin shit for calls i'd say you got a keeper.

DD got the league paying attention this season, he's a sure shot allstar in my opinion barring injury or something stupid like a car chase or drug bust. The question will be whether he become that franchise type guy. Either way having DD means you got the 2guard spot locked up for as long as you can keep him.

and yeah, the leagues rigged and even if we have a few decent seasons and a playoff series after derozan has tapped out the limited canadian market they will probably starting rigging against us to frustrate him and to get dd in new market(like theyre doing with howard right now) but still... you got to keep players like that as long as you can

It's not a question about getting rid of him, it's a question of acquiring even more talent at crucial positions.

If for e.g. we had to trade DeRozan + Davis + a first to Utah for Deron Williams (back in Feb.) I wouldn't have even batten an eye IF we had a 4 year extension with Deron. So, I'm looking at it from that perspective.

you would trade Ed Davis and Derozan for Williams...
what basket ball are you watching?

you want a star, lets develop what we have
a trade like that wouldn't benefit the Raptors one bit.. sure we would have an all-star pg, but no one at 2guard and a undersized PF in amir Johnson.. NOPE FAIL

I know you think that, but look at what Derrick Rose is doing in Chicago. That's all coming from the PG spot and because he's got help.

Tell me, why is it crazy instead of just saying "crazy"?

If it was February and they said here's Deron + a 4 year extension keeping him with your team until 2016, for a rookie and a guy who still has a long way to go (and you can argue, you could find a better replacement in next year's draft), you wouldn't think long and hard about it?

Think about how important that PG position is. Getting a guy who's top 3 at his position isn't worth considering?

Defensively you improve at the 1. You could make Andrea into a better offensive player as well.

This is all hypothetical, but I'm really surprised by the 'no'.

And hey, I like DeRozan too, but he kinda is what he is (to some extent).

I would Neeeeeeeeeeeeeever do that...

lol, a case of Raptors fan overrating there own players. you would never do that trade....well, the NETS would never do that trade so if would never come down to us to make a decision like that.

anytime you can get a superstar (yes dwill is a superstar, funny how quickly people forget because of one bad season, and its not even that bad, and then traded to quiet new jersey) you do the trade. and his prime is right now or just about to begin. how is it that there are people that are even considering?!

oh please....what a stupid argument.....deron williams isn't going to give us a title? since when is one superstar enough to win anybody a title? and you think we have a better chance with ed davis and derozan

NICE
